Have Everything

psalmshymnsspiritualsongskjv

The first time I met you, I was on my knees
Praying, “Lord, if You’re out there, can You speak to me?”
‘Cause I was in a desperate place
My life looked like a hurricane
The moment I felt Your grace

You can have me, You can have everything
Oh, I am Yours
Not holding on, onto anything
But Your promise, Lord
It’s a new day, it’s a new dawn
I’ve found a place where I belong
Nothing I want more than what You’ve given me
Hey, so You can have everything
You can have everything
You can have everything

You are like the sunshine in the dead of night
You’re the only one standing when my world ignites
So why would I hold anything back
‘Cause You keep my world intact
It’s true, Oh, God, it’s true, so I’ll say

Every day I’m gonna wake up,
Gonna wake up
, wake up and say
You can have me, have everything

It’s hard for me to remember a time when I didn’t have Jesus as my Savior, my Companion, and my Rock.  I was a young child of eight when I asked Jesus to come into my heart.  I had very few hard times as a young believer and really all throughout my childhood.  He walked with me through my days and I could feel His presence.  I knew I belonged to Him and I knew that He was all that I needed.  I remember thinking, “How do people live when they don’t have Him?” Little did I know just how desperate I would feel one day…like He had left or taken a break or maybe fallen asleep on the job.  But really, it was I who had moved.

“…I was in a desperate place, my life looked like a hurricane…”  Oh, how those words described my life at times, when I had decided that I knew how to run my life better than Him.  He waited patiently, with so much grace and mercy until I once again told Him that He could have everything.  Now when my feet hit the floor, I pray a simple prayer: “Empty to fill.”

Every day is a new day.  One that is full of joy and wonder at the greatest life I could ever have.  My sweet Savior rescued me from darkness and filled me with His light and I will never be the same. What about you today?  Have you asked Jesus to be your Lord?  Have you felt His presence lately…or do you feel you have moved away a little bit? If so, all you have to do is ask Him to come into your life and live in your heart.  He is waiting for you to say, “You can have everything.”

Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. Lamentations 3:23

LORD, be gracious to us; we long for You.
Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.
Isaiah 33:2

I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known
through all generations.
Psalm 89:1

Let us pray:
Dear God, thank You for giving us Your Son to be our Savior and Rock and Comforter.  Thank You for the grace and mercy that are ours through You.  When we fail and trip and stumble, Your hand is always there to pull us up.  What a privilege to be able to lay it all at Your feet, to be able to give You everything that weighs us down knowing no burden is too heavy for You.  All we have to do is ask…and trust You. You love us and You forgive us.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

Jesus Paid It All

psalmshymnsspiritualsongskjv

I hear the Savior say
Thy strength indeed is small
Child of weakness, watch and pray
Find in Me thine all in all

Jesus paid it all
All to Him I owe
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone
Can change the leper’s spots
and melt the heart of stone

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
Jesus died my soul to save,
my lips shall still repeat

O Praise the one who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow
He washed it white as snow

Original hymn – Elvina M. Hall / Additional lyrics and praise – Kristian Stanfil

I listen to this hymn and again I am a child, sitting by my mom in church, listening to the grown-ups around me sing; and I understand these words even then. That Jesus paid my debt so that I could live; it was that simple then. Why do we complicate things when we get older?

I hear Jesus whisper,

“Your strength is little, and you are weak. But you are My child and as you pray and seek Me, you will find all that you need in Me.”

And I respond…

“Jesus, You paid it all, the price for every sin that I have committed and ever will commit. I owe You everything. Sin had stained me, taken all from me and in the broken places You filled me. And now I am clean, and white as snow.

Lord, I now see that You alone can do miraculous things, like heal disease, and break even the hardest of hearts and fill all with You. You paid the whole price for my sins, I owe all that I am to You. Sin had left a mark and almost ruined me, but You washed me and made me white as snow.

And  when the day comes that You appear to all, and we get to kneel before You as You sit on Your throne. I will finally be complete in You. You died to save my soul and my lips will proclaim the news to all the world. Jesus, You paid it all, and all to You I owe- sin had left a crimson stain, but You washed it white as snow.”

As a child, I listened to hymns and hung on every word and I pictured the events really happening. I pictured Him dying for me and washing the stain of my sins.  I pictured me dirty once and then I am made white as snow because of Him. I remember longing for the day that the trumpets would sound and I would get to stand before His throne and talk to Him. I would get to bow down before my Lord and Savior and tell Him how much I loved Him and how grateful I am for Him taking my sins away. And you know what? He really did take your sins away. He really did pay your debt and raise your life up from the dead. And because of this, you will live a life that is full and blessed. You will walk in light instead of darkness. And you will be loved by Jesus, our Lord. Just meditate on this today and let it just sink in…you are saved, loved, clean, because He paid it all.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Verse 9

Let us pray: Thank You, Jesus, for paying the full price for my sins. You came and died and paid my debt in full. I am in awe of Your sacrifice and Your love. Thank You for loving me enough to save me from myself.  And when that day comes that I get to stand before You and bow down on my knees, I will praise You and proclaim to the world that You are the Savior!   In Jesus’ name, amen.

Rejoice Over God’s Plan

SeekingHimLogoI saw the American flag hanging as a backdrop…Congressmen were moving within the chamber as white papers were being passed between them…something important was happening.

As I sit here this evening, the news channel shows Congress is voting about a big decision that will affect our county. It’s appropriate that the volume is turned way down. The decisions happening in Washington, D.C. need to fade in this moment.

I am aware that difficulties are on the horizon—if not soon, then, in the not-so-distant future. I need to be aware, to care, and to be in prayer. But the leaders of this world will not solve the problems of this world.

As beautiful and as massive as the White House and the Capitol buildings are, and as powerful as the people who live and work in them may seem, they cannot save us.

But I know of One who saves. And to Him I am grateful. His name is Jesus.

The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;
the LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.
This is the day that LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalms 118: 22-24

When Jesus came to earth, He was rejected and crucified. He died in our place for our sins and rose to live again, so that we love and serve a risen Savior! He became the Capstone for us, and He is the only One who can truly lead us, save us, and help us!

When Christ was killed, even those closest to Him did not understand at first. But they soon came to realize that it was all part of God’s Plan! What seemed only to be evil at first came to be understood as a beautiful, loving, and sacrificial gift of God giving His Son to save the world.

So, we rejoice over what God did through his Son, Jesus.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith
into this grace in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
Romans 5:1-2

And even though the future may hold many unknowns, I know God has ultimate victory, and I choose to put my trust in Him. Let’s take one day at a time. Dark days will come, and we don’t know how many days each of us have, so let’s make the most of what is given to us. How do we respond to an unknown future? Let’s strengthen our faith and be found trusting God’s plans for us.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I close with this:

On my TV screen, the Capitol is lit up in the dark skies…pretty scene….

In our lives, let our hearts be lit up with the love of Jesus in a dark world…more important scenes….

Dear Lord, let us be thankful that You sent Your Son to die for our sins and to become the Capstone!  We rejoice over Your Plan of salvation for us!  We love You, and let us each day remember what all You have done and rejoice and be glad in it!  In Jesus’ precious Name.

Amen.
