Shoulders

psalmshymnsspiritualsongskjv

When confusion’s my companion
And despair holds me for ransom
I will feel no fear
I know that You are near
When I’m caught deep in the valley
With chaos for my company
I’ll find my comfort here
‘Cause I know that You are near

My help comes from You
You’re right here, pulling me through
You carry my weakness, my sickness, my brokenness all on Your shoulders
Your shoulders
My help comes from You
You are my rest, my rescue
I don’t have to see to believe that You’re lifting me up on Your shoulders
Your shoulders

You mend what once was shattered
And You turn my tears to laughter
Your forgiveness is my fortress
Oh, Your mercy is relentless

My help is from You
Don’t have to see it to believe it
My help is from You
Don’t have to see it, ‘cause I know, ‘cause I know it’s true

My help comes from the Lord,
The Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:2 HCSB

Right now my life feels very chaotic.  Like a roller coaster ride.  It is full of uncertainty and most of it is out of my control.  But, strangely enough, I’m not in a panic (which is unusual for me).  I heard this song and the last part just kept repeating over and over in my head.

My help is from You, don’t have to see it to believe it
My help is from you, don’t have to see it,
‘cause I know, ‘cause I know it’s true

It surprises me that I am not trying to take control of my circumstance and that I am not stressing out at this point.  Romans 8:6 NLT states that “…letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”  Psalm 27:13 is one of my life verses.

I would have despaired unless I had believed
that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

These are the only things that could possibly explain why I am not in full-fledged panic mode.  I know where my help comes from:

We have the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!
2 Chronicles 32:8

You are my Help and my Deliverer….O my God
Psalm 40:17, Psalm 70:5 AMP

Because I know Who is my Help I can “Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall praise Him, my Help and my God” (Psalm 42:5).  2 Corinthians 5:7 says we are to “…live by faith, not by sight.”  I don’t have to see God at work to know He is there.  I simply have faith He is working behind the scenes.  Hebrews 11:1 NASB, one of my favorite verses, explains it like this:

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Jesus said “Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed” (John 20:29 NASB).

I am standing firmly on these verses, and I
Don’t have to see it, ‘cause I know, ‘cause I know it’s true

Fix My Eyes

Stand face to face with the younger me
All of the mistakes
All of the heartbreak
Here’s what I’d do differently

I’d love like I’m not scared
Give when it’s not fair
Live life for another
Take time for a brother
Fight for the weak ones
Speak out for freedom
Find faith in the battle
Stand tall but above it all
Fix my eyes on You

I learned the lines and talked the talk
But the road less traveled is hard to walk
It takes a soldier
Who knows his orders
To walk the walk I’m supposed to walk

The things of Earth are dimming
In the light of Your glory and grace
I’ll set my sights upon Heaven
I’m fixing my eyes on You
I’m fixing my eyes on You
I’m fixing my eyes

When I fix my eyes on Jesus, through His strength, I can do ALL the things He asks me to do. God ways are not our ways. What doesn’t make sense to us doesn’t have to…as God always has a higher purpose for what He calls us to do.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”
Isaiah 55:8 NLT

For God to do the unimaginable in our lives we must be willing to keep our eyes focused on Him and not be trying to figure things out by our own strength.. He must have full reign over our lives… More of Him and less of Me..

He must become greater; I must become less.
John 3:30 NIV

I love this passage in the Bible where Jesus prays for Simon that his faith would not fail him.

But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail.
Luke 22:32a NLT

Our faith is what gives God the ability to work in our lives. You either trust or you don’t—it is as simple as that! What unimaginable are you believing for in your life?

Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us,
to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Ephesians 3:20 NLT

Heavenly Father, thank You that we can do ALL that You ask us to do by Your strength and power that is at work in us at all times. All we have to do is tap into it… May our faith in You not fail us and please forgive us when it does. In Jesus’ name, AMEN!!!
