An Infinite God

SeekingHimLogo

I will exalt You, my God the King;
I will praise Your name for ever and ever.
Every day I will praise You
and extol Your name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
His greatness no one can fathom.
Psalms 145:1-3

God is so great. God is so good. God is great all the time. It is hard to fathom just how far-reaching God’s greatness is—it is infinite. Infinity is hard to imagine because it never ends. It is often too hard to imagine infinity. There is no way to put an end to it.

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.
1 Chronicles 16:25

God has been here before any of us were ever born. He created the universe, the world, humans—everything. His reach is infinite. His reach is so infinite that He is able to send His Son to be with us no matter where we are. His reach is so infinite that we cannot hide anything from God. He knows everything and sees everything. God’s reach is so infinite that it is amazing and scary at the same time. It is amazing that our God knows us so well.

He is so great that God deserves praise every day. His greatness and love make Him worthy of eternal praise and love. Once we are in Heaven with God for eternity, we will have the chance to praise Him for eternity.

Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your infinite love. We praise You for Your greatness. Without You, we would be nothing. You have our best interests in Your mind and sight, and we are thankful for that. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Who Am I Representing?

I will exalt You, my God and King,
and praise Your name forever and ever.
I will praise You every day;
yes, I will praise You forever.
Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure His greatness.
Psalms 145:1-3

As I read these verses for our devotional this week, I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Do I exalt the Lord?  Do I praise Him daily?” Sadly, I didn’t have to ponder long to conclude that the answer is ‘no.’  The busyness of life has most definitely taken center stage.  And everything and everyone else has been pushed to the side.  School, work, trying to relax, doing homework, sleeping…because you have to sleep…making life choices.  Life can often get in the way of the most important thing—spending time with God and remembering that my life is meant to be lived for Him with Him.

No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and money.
Matthew 6:24

This also can apply to other areas of your life, such as work, relationship, ministry, or children.   You cannot ‘serve two masters,’ the verse says.  First and foremost, God is to be the center of everything, and when He is we will be fulfilled, and everything else falls into place.

I was quickly reminded of Martha.  Poor Martha was so concerned with what she was doing for Christ rather than being with Christ and putting Him first.

Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted
by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair
to You that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details!
There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it,
and it will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:39-42

I want to please God. I want to live a life for Him. I just pray that I don’t get so concerned with what I am doing and forget about living life with Him.

Lord, help me to balance living for You, and keeping You in center place in my life.  Amen.

Unceasing Praise

I will exalt You, my God the King
I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will praise You and extol Your name forever and ever.
Psalms 145:1-2 NIV

In this psalm I am able to see that we need to praise the Lord at all times despite our adversaries that are in this life.  Ignoring the works of the devil while praising God makes the devil want to give up on us.

What is unceasing praise?

Revelations 4:8 says, “Each of the four creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around even under his wings.  Day and night they never stop saying: ‘Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come.’

If the four creatures were able to say ‘Holy Holy Holy,’ what more you and I who are created in His very own image—us who were given dominion over the creatures?  He gave us the power over things.  And here the same creatures are saying ‘Holy Holy Holy!’ (How about us?)  I feel ashamed when sometimes a day passes without being able to praise the Lord in the name of being busy.  Praise has to come from deep down in our heart.  It has to be a daily thing to do and a thing that we need to love to do.  Let us therefore choose to praise the Lord at all times.

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea
and all that is in them singing: ‘To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever.’
Revelations 5:13

Praise the Lord forever! In Psalm 35:28 we read,

My tongue will speak of Your righteousness and of Your praises all day long.

The birds of the air are able to praise God; what more you and I?

I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Psalm 104:33

Praise can only done when you are alive. Let us give the best to our Lord now while we are alive. If we die it becomes another issue altogether. Let us make best use of our time to praise the Lord.

Father, I thank You for Your answers to prayer always and for the revelations each time I come to You. Lord, You are indeed worthy! Glory and honor be unto You. Father, give us the grace to praise You more each day and without ceasing forever and ever.  I pray for an intimate relationship with You, Lord.  Let Your Presence saturate us with Your anointing always.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
