I Keep Falling In Love

I am found in Your embrace
Covered by Your love
You’re my deepest dream I know
Your love so strong, Spirit come

You lift me up to heaven’s door
You restore my soul
I come here without Your touch
I need You so much, I need You more
You’re my Rock and my Redeemer
The Rock on which I stand

I keep falling in love with You, Lord
Every beat of my heart, breath that I take
Through the seasons that change, Your love remains
My hiding place, my home…falling in love

God is the husband to those who are not married.  He is the husband of those who are widowed.  God is the ultimate mate for us.
He knows what we want and need before we ever speak it.  Remember our words are what will happen.  If we speak positive over our lives, it will be be positive. If we speak negative, only negative will occur.  And, oh, how we struggle with our tongue.
Most of our lives we are not admonished on what we say. It is hard to break habits and begin to always speak positive words to ourselves and to those around us.  We often speak of where are are in our life.
When we allow God to be our Rock and our Redeemer, our words will change.  Even if we have been a believer we can sink back into our old ways.  We are so blessed to have a Father, Husband, Friend who loves us more than any human ever could.

Father, help us to keep our focus on You. Forgive us for taking our eyes off of You—as Peter did when walking on the water with Your son Jesus.  Help us keep on track to seeking You.  Help us to forget the wrongs we imagine or even those things that are real.  Unforgiveness keeps only us captive, not the one who wronged us.  Help us become free to truly love as You made us to.  Help us to love You more deeply while developing our trust.  In Jesus’ name, Amen!

2014 – My Journey This Year

SeekingHimLogo

My journey this year has been exciting.   My one friend has lost her mom after a stroke.  Another is getting to watch her oldest children go through relationships as young people and see how they navigate with God at the head of the relationships. I have met new friends…older and younger.  We have finished expansions on our home and repainted other areas.  Through this I have learned how impatient I can be.  And then I have learned to continue to look toward God for my Strength and my Shield.

I have seen relationships end and others grow in numbers (those are fun!).  Baby showers are the promise of new life to come.  God has given us the gift of new life around us.  God has given me the responsibility, along with others, to help lead our area in the Children’s Ministry; and it is fun to see the children grow and come through our doors at church for Early Childhood group. I helped organize our team for the Hallelujah Hoedown…which was a blast. It was hot, but it was fun.

I have learned this year to focus and trust God more. Working through the practices for the Hoedown, took lots of time. I was and am very thankful for what time all the volunteers gave to me and to the children this year. I have learned to look at myself and know my limits…there and at work.  At home I have learned to not be critical of others.  I have learned to pray more and wait patiently for God’s grace.

Worthy Is The Lamb

psalmshymnsspiritualsongskjv

Thank You for the Cross, Lord
Thank You for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came and gave amazing grace

Thank You for this love, Lord
Thank You for the nail-pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the Throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

High and lifted up
Jesus, Son of God
The Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the Lamb
Worthy is the Lamb

While we sit around our tables filled with family, food, and just pure joy, are we thinking of the Blesser? So many times, I know, I take it all for granted. And He, with all His mercy and grace, forgives me because He knows my heart and He knows yours, too. And because He lives, we can face anything and we can praise Him in the midst.

But before He could rise from the grave, He had to carry that heavy, wooden cross along a treacherous path. All the while knowing that the end result would be His death. Our sins are forever forgiven and all our debt is paid. There is nothing more worthy of thanks, and no One more worthy of praise.

Does it hit you sometimes, out of nowhere? Tears fall, chill bumps cover and my spirits soar, and I really want to take my hands off the steering wheel and just all out praise Him. Today was one of those moments. I see His handiwork all around, the beautiful sound with calm waters and pelicans flying and the sun is high with few clouds and I am humbled.

The Creator of all of this loves me!
His Son loves you!
And, yes, we have so much to be thankful for!

He came as a baby, He lived the same life that we do, preparing the way for us to be victorious, and ultimately to live with Him in Heaven. Aren’t you amazed? I know I am. We serve an amazing God! Will you sit still today and let this really sink in? Let His love wash over you and His grace rain down on you and just enjoy Him loving you?? Join me today as we end the Thanksgiving week and begin the month of His birth day. Prepare your hearts to just receive all He has for you…blessings upon blessings…for you..from Him.  Do you believe?

They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in His hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound on His side.”

Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” He said. Then He said to Thomas, “Put your fingers here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen Me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing Me.”
John 20:25-29

Let us pray:

Oh Lord, You are so much more than we can ever imagine.  You are awesome and all mighty and full of love and kindness.  Your grace amazes me and Your love fulfills. You made the ultimate sacrifice for us—Your own Son—to suffer with each nail that pierced Him…all for us, Your children.  How can we really ever thank You enough? Truth is we cannot.  Help us remain faithful and steadfast.  Give us the endurance that we need to withstand all the hard things on this side of Heaven. For this is not our permanent home, but help us to leave a legacy here for others to see and to know You personally.  Thank You for this time with our families.  And for those that are lonely this season, keep them ever so close.  Wrap Your arms around them and let them feel Your presence.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

You Are My Strength Psalm 71

SeekingHimLogo

I will come in the strength and with the mighty acts of the Lord God;
I will mention and praise Your righteousness, even Yours alone.
O God, You have taught me from my youth, and hitherto have I declared Your wondrous works.
Yes, even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not, [but keep me alive]
until I have declared Your mighty strength to [this] generation,
and Your might and power to all that are to come.
Your righteousness also, O God, is very high [reaching to the heavens],
You Who have done great things; O God, who is like You, or who is Your equal?
Psalms 71:16-19

You are my strength
Strength like no other
Strength like no other
Reaches to me

You are my hope
Hope like no other
Hope like no other
Reaches to me

In the fullness of Your grace
In the power of Your Name
You lift me up
You lift me up

Unfailing love
Stronger than mountains
Deeper than oceans
Reaches to me

Your love O Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness
Reaches to the sky

Made Me Glad

SeekingHimLogo

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, But to Your name give glory
Because of Your loving kindness, because of Your truth.
Why should the nations say, “Where, now, is their God?”
But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases.
Their idols are silver and gold, The work of man’s hands.
They have mouths, but they cannot speak; They have eyes, but they cannot see;
They have ears, but they cannot hear; They have noses, but they cannot smell;
They have hands, but they cannot feel; They have feet, but they cannot walk;
They cannot make a sound with their throat.
Those who make them will become like them, Everyone who trusts in them.
O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their Help and their Shield.
O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord; He is their Help and their Shield.
You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their Help and their Shield.
Psalms 115:1-11

I will bless the Lord forever
And I will trust Him at all times

He has delivered me from all fear
And He has set my feet upon a rock

I will not be moved, and I’ll say of the Lord
You are my Shield, my Strength, my Portion
Deliverer, my Shelter, Strong Tower
My very present Help in time of need

Whom have I in heaven but You
There’s none I desire beside You
You have made me glad, and I’ll say of the Lord

You are my Shield, my Strength, my Portion
Deliverer, my Shelter, Strong Tower
My very present Help in time of need

A Beautiful Exchange

psalmshymnsspiritualsongskjv

You were near though I was distant
Disillusioned I was lost and insecure
Still mercy fought for my intention
You were waiting at the door, then I let You in

Trading Your life for my offenses
For my redemption
You carried all the blame breaking the curse
Of our condition
Perfection took our place

When only love could make a way
You gave Your life in a beautiful exchange
When only love could break these chains
You gave Your life in a beautiful exchange

My burden erased, my life forgiven
There is nothing that could take this love away
And my only desire, and my sole ambition
Is to love You just the same

Holy are You, God, Holy is Your name
With everything I’ve got my heart will sing
How I love You

Thank You, Lord, that You were near even when I was distant….

Sometimes, there’s so much going on in your life that, God fades from the picture…creating distance.  In other words, your relationship with God may be weakened because your focus is not on Him.  Not spending as much time with God can create distance because your mind becomes occupied by other things…thus shutting God out.  If you are a person who spiritually feels God’s Presence and Love—and then you don’t feel it anymore—that can mean you are becoming distant from God.

But even if there are things going on and you are distant from God, He is still always there and He will never fail you, even if you don’t feel His presence.  All you have to do is close the distance, and put your trust and focus back on Him.

The problem lies within us.  God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever; He never changes.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 ESV

We must return our focus back to Him the One who is Faithful…

What a beautiful exchange—Jesus’ life for mine!  He freely laid His life down for you and me.  Therefore, all thanks, praise, and honor should go directly to Him!

Jesus said in John 15:13 that there is “No greater love that a man can have than this: that he lay his life down for his friends!”  How can we not place our main focus on Him and allow Him time in our lives when He laid down His life for ours?!?  We must not let the distractions in our lives take precedence over our time with Him.

My burden erased…my life forgiven…there is NOTHING that could take this love away for you and for me.  Our sole ambition should be to love Him the same!

 * ~ ♥ ~ ✞ ~ ♥ ~ *

Heavenly Father, I come to You today with a grateful, thankful heart. Forgive me for the times I have let the distractions of my life take away from my time spent with You. Thank You for the beautiful exchange of laying down Your life for mine…and that, no matter what, nothing could ever take away from Your love for me… In Jesus’ name, AMEN!!!!

CHRISTLife — A Quiet Time (Part Three)

IMG_1391

Each Saturday recently we have been looking in-depth at a few of the most important aspects of having a quiet time—or as some folks call it—a devotional time.  Already we have talked about two very foundational aspects of a quiet time—Bible reading and singing praises.  This week we are remembering the importance of being thankful and expressing our gratitude to our Father.

Truly, is there anything else that you can think of that can so change your heart’s attitude more than thankfulness?  I don’t think it presumptuous to say that every one of us has had times of worry, sorrow, despair, grief, anguish, pain in which we turned our hearts to seek God and found ourselves praising and thanking Him for His goodness and kindness towards us.  True?

Before we go any further, let’s stop for just five minutes and worship our God voicing our thanks and our praise!

~  Thank You  – Hillsong / Songwriter – Reuben Morgan  ~
Thank You for Your kindness, thank You for Your mercy
Thank You for the Cross, thank You for the price You paid

Thank You for salvation, thank You for unending grace
Thank You for Your hope, thank You for this life You gave

There is no one like You…There is no one like You, God
All my hope is in You, Jesus Jesus

To Your name we give all the glory
To Your name we give all the praise
And You’re alive—Our God everlasting—let Your face shine on us

Thank You for Your promise, thank You for Your favor
Thank You for Your love…everything You’ve done for me

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *

The Psalmist, writer of many, many songs of thanks and praise, had this in his heart:

Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!
Who can put into words and tell the mighty deeds of the Lord?
Or who can show forth all the praise [that is due Him]?
Psalms 106:1 and 2 AMP

Who can speak forth enough words to tell all the wonderful, mighty things that God has done?  Or who can utter all the praise that is due Him?  Clearly the simple answer is ‘No one.’  But that doesn’t mean we don’t still thrill to voice our gratitude and thankfulness to our Great God!

I checked out Webster’s definition of thankfulness:

THANK’FUL, adjective.
Grateful; impressed with a sense of kindness received, and ready to acknowledge it.

• The Lord’s supper is to be celebrated with a thankful remembrance of His sufferings and death.
• Be thankful to Him, and bless his name (Psalm 100).

I think Mr. Webster’s definition clearly shows that thankfulness is both thought and action—you ‘sense’ having received <God’s> kindness AND you ‘acknowledge’ it. Here’s a great example:

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come before His presence with singing!
Know that the Lord is God!
It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]!
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving
and a thank offering and into His courts with praise!
Be thankful and say so to Him,
bless and affectionately praise His name!
For the Lord is good;
His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting,
His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.
Psalm 100

The Psalmist was confessing—remembering—just a few things he was grateful for, AND voicing his gratitude.  We can—we should—do the same! We have oh-so-very-much to be thankful for, amen?  We definitely ‘sense’ God’s abundant goodness and kindness to us, true?  And we acknowledge it through our words of gratitude and thankfulness.

I will thank Yahweh with all my heart;
I will declare all Your wonderful works.
Psalm 9:1

I cried to You, O Lord, and to the Lord I made supplication.
Hear, O Lord, have mercy and be gracious to me! O Lord, be my helper!
To the end that my tongue and my heart
and everything glorious within me
may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Psalms 30:10, 12

So in your quiet time (but not ONLY in your quiet time!) may I encourage you to tell Your Father how very grateful you are for His goodness, for His protection, for His healing, for His deliverance, for His provision, for His calling, for His admonition, for His guidance, for His love, grace and mercy!  And give Him much thanks!  (Perhaps you might share with us something you have thanked Him for just today…?  Leave your comment below; thanks!)

Keep worshipping Him and enjoying your quiet time with your Lord!  As you seek Him, He will be found…He promises!

Compassion

SeekingHimLogo

I love the Lord, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.
The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me;
I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the Lord: “Lord, save me!”
The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
The Lord protects the unwary; when I was brought low, He saved me.
Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.
Psalms 116:1-7

God’s love knows no bounds!  He is there when we call out to Him and He hears our plea for ourselves and for others.  This past week was such a test for some friends of ours.  It is rather a long story, but the unfortunate side effect was that a teenager took his life.  No one this side of heaven knows why, but I am sure there are theories. He loved the Lord and people loved him.

We can use this situation to minister to others and let them know that it is okay to feel sad.  As Christians we are taught, or believe, that we should not feel sad, depressed, or helpless.  That is a lie from the evil one.  We are capable of sinning and, when sin creeps in, we are vulnerable to thoughts of suicide.  Please be aware, dear sisters, that here you can find rest, love, acceptance, help, and healing as well as hope.

com·pas·sion

noun 1. a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.

This—compassion— is what God has for us. If only…..they would see; they would seek me; they would pray more; they had paid more attention.

Mighty to Save by Hillsong is such an appropriate song for us today.  He is so mighty to save us and help us know that we are forgiven and loved.  We may face desperate times, but it is not to define who we are in Christ.  Rules are made to protect us and guide us, but not to rule us.

We must remember to love the way that God loved us and everyone would be better.

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *

Father, thank You for loving us unconditionally.  Thank You for those who would love on us, even when we are unlovable.  You are a great and wonderful God that we mostly do not deserve to have in our lives, but You love us anyway.  Help us to be strong enough to share Your Word with others and with those in our own families. In Jesus’ name, amen.

He Is Our Shield — Psalms 18:30-32

SeekingHimLogo

As for God, His way is perfect!
The word of the Lord is tested and tried;
He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.
For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God,
The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect?
Psalms 18:30-32

Mighty To Save

psalmshymnsspiritualsongskjv

~  Listen while you read, please!  ~

Everyone needs compassion, a love that’s never failing, let mercy fall on me
Well, everyone needs forgiveness The kindness of a Savior, the hope of nations.

Savior, He can move the mountains; my God is mighty to save, He is mighty to save
Forever, Author of Salvation, He rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me—all my fears and failures—fill my life again
I give my life to follow, everything I believe in, I surrender…I surrender.

Savior, He can move the mountains My God is mighty to save, He is mighty to save
Forever, Author of Salvation, He rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine Your light and let the whole world see we’re singing for the glory of the risen King,
Jesus, shine Your light and let the whole world see we’re singing for the glory of the risen King.

Songwriter Rodney Clawson / Performed by Hillsong

This song just makes my heart glad! I want to dance and jump around for my Savior, raise my hands and sing at the top on my lungs!  (I do apologize for anyone standing close by!)  This song has the perfect balance of praise and asking for forgiveness and joy.  Not many songs can do that.  As we read and sing along, think on the words. Let the meaning fill your soul and lift you to new heights!

Being at service on Sunday we were reminded that we are to always show others what it is to be a Christ follower. We are to speak, act, and walk in the path of Christ.  Songs like this will help us keep that focus on the Kingdom.  As the one line goes, “Let the whole world see we’re singing for the glory of the risen King.” One day He will return and we will have to give an account of what we have done.  I know I want to be able to hold my head high and say I have tried my best.
