 &#8212;  Green Smoothies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just for the month of March, every Wednesday here on <strong>At Home with GCH<\/strong>, I will be blogging about &#8220;<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em><strong>All Things Green.<\/strong><\/em><\/span>&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0I hope you enjoy it!<\/p>\n<p>Today, I want to share my all-time favorite <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Green Smoothie<\/strong><\/span> recipe. \u00a0If you&#8217;ve never had a Green Smoothie before, don&#8217;t let the color scare you off! \u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Green Smoothies<\/span><\/strong> are not only healthy for you, they taste delicious, and\u00a0are a GREAT way to get your fruits and veggies in for the day! \u00a0God gave us these awesome fruits and vegetables, so why not put them to good use!<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start by talking about <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Green Smoothies<\/span><\/strong> and why they are so good for you! \u00a0My dear friend Sandra Castillo turned me onto these deliciously healthy smoothies. \u00a0She is the <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Green Smoothie<\/strong><\/span> guru that I go to if I have any questions about them! \u00a0She has been drinking <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Green Smoothies<\/strong><\/span> for nearly 4 years and has not been sick <em><strong>one time<\/strong><\/em> during this time.\u00a0 When everyone else is suffering from the flu, colds, sinus infections, and more&#8230;Sandra is like the Energizer battery and just keeps going, and going, and going! \u00a0She has taught me so much about these delicious drinks, and I can&#8217;t wait to share some of what I have learned from her!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ToYourHealth.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9954\" alt=\"ToYourHealth\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ToYourHealth.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ToYourHealth.jpg 500w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ToYourHealth-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/ToYourHealth-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The benefits of <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Green Smoothies<\/span>:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 1.17em; line-height: 19px;\">Promotes blood purification<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Cancer prevention<\/li>\n<li>Improves circulation<\/li>\n<li>Strengthens immune system<\/li>\n<li>Promotes healthy intestinal flora<\/li>\n<li>Promotes\u00a0extra energy<\/li>\n<li>Lifts spirits and reduces\/eliminates depression<\/li>\n<li>Improves liver, gall bladder and kidney functions<\/li>\n<li>Clears congestion, especially in lungs by reducing mucus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">This is what you will find in each <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Green Smoothie<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>protein<\/li>\n<li>calcium<\/li>\n<li>folate<\/li>\n<li>iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc, copper<\/li>\n<li>vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin A<\/li>\n<li>vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, vitamin B5, vitamin B6<\/li>\n<li>vitamin E<\/li>\n<li>omega 3 fatty acids<\/li>\n<li>potassium<\/li>\n<li>tryptophan<\/li>\n<li>dietary fiber<\/li>\n<li>and much more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><b><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My favorite<\/span> Green Smoothie <span style=\"color: #000000;\">recipe<\/span>:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1 large frozen banana<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup frozen strawberries<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp\u00a0ground flax seed<\/li>\n<li>16 oz of purified water<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">2 handfuls of fresh kale<\/span><\/li>\n<li>6 ice cubes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Blend until smooth and enjoy.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">I always use kale in my smoothies. \u00a0I&#8217;m not much of a fan of spinach, but I can tolerate it if I have to. \u00a0But my favorite for my <strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Green Smoothies<\/span><\/strong> is kale. \u00a0Kale has a ton of health benefits, too!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are just a few of the health benefits of<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> kale<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>very versatile and nutritious green leafy vegetable<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 12.986111640930176px;\">low calories<\/span><\/li>\n<li>high in fiber<\/li>\n<li>zero fat<\/li>\n<li>high in iron<\/li>\n<li>high in vitamins A, C, and K<\/li>\n<li>filled with powerful antioxidants<\/li>\n<li>anti-inflammatory<\/li>\n<li>great for cardiovascular support<\/li>\n<li>high in calcium<\/li>\n<li>great detox food<\/li>\n<li>strengthens immune system<\/li>\n<li>binds bile acids and helps lower blood cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart disease<\/li>\n<li>can reduce the overall risk of developing or dying from cancer, according to a study in the\u00a0<i>American Journal of Clinical Nutrition<\/i><\/li>\n<li>notably good in many B-complex groups of vitamins such as niacin,\u00a0vitamin B-6(pyridoxine), thiamin, pantothenic acid, etc., that are essential for substrate metabolism in the body<\/li>\n<li>believed to protect from cardiovascular diseases, and colon and prostate cancers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>One warning that I have found on <span style=\"color: #008000;\">kale<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">Because of its high vitamin K content, patients taking anti-coagulants such as Warfarin are encouraged to avoid <\/span>kale<span style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\"> since it increases the vitamin K concentration in the blood, which is what the drugs are attempting to lower.
