Look at the title of this blog.\u00a0 Do you realize that you can\u2019t have one without the other? Those two words are not mutually exclusive.\u00a0 Ladies, you cannot have the whole healing Christ offers freely without not only accepting His forgiveness, but offering it to those who have hurt you as well.<\/p>\n

I was a very emotional child.\u00a0 I would carry around hurts of \u201che said, she said\u201d or \u201cshe talked about me behind my back\u201d or \u201che gave me a dirty look\u201d all of the time.\u00a0 I carried those burdens.\u00a0 In fact, I still do.\u00a0 I still find it hard to let go of things when people hurt me.\u00a0 In those times of intense anger or hurt, I remember what my beautiful mother always told me.\u00a0 \u201cTake the stone out of your own eye, Carissa.\u201d\u00a0 This principle she taught me comes directly from Scripture.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother\u2019s eye\u201d Matthew 7:5 (ESV).<\/p>\n

Our authors discuss this point as well:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIt might help to remember that those who hurt you were also deeply wounded themselves.\u00a0 They were broken hearts, broken when they were young, and they fell captive to the Enemy.\u00a0 They were, in fact, pawns in his hands.\u00a0 This doesn\u2019t absolve them of the choices they made, the things they did.\u00a0 It just helps us to let them go—to realize that they were shattered souls themselves, used by our true Enemy in his war against femininity.\u201d (pg. 103)<\/p>\n

Helps put things in perspective, doesn\u2019t it?\u00a0 Our enemies are not the people who hurt us…it\u2019s Satan.\u00a0 He\u2019s the one who causes evil in this world.\u00a0 He\u2019s the snake behind The Fall of Adam and Eve.\u00a0 Yes, the responsibility is still ours; we make wrong choices daily.\u00a0 But, be assured that one day, we will all be held accountable for our actions and words before God.\u00a0 He will judge; He will right all wrongs.\u00a0 We are accountable for ourselves, not for anyone else.\u00a0 So that is why Jesus calls us to \u201cforgive as the Lord [forgives us]\u201d in Colossians 3:13.<\/p>\n

When we forgive, a burden on our heart is lifted.\u00a0 So what burdens are you still carrying?<\/p>\n

\"WhenWeForgive\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once we forgive and let go of those hurts, we can receive fully the healing promised by God.\u00a0 David, tortured by his oppressors, praises God in Psalm 23.\u00a0 Meditate on the truth below today. God loves you and will heal your broken heart!<\/p>\n

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.<\/i><\/p>\n

He makes me lie down in green pastures,<\/i><\/p>\n

He leads me beside quiet waters,<\/i><\/p>\n

He refreshes my soul.<\/i><\/p>\n

He guides me along the right paths <\/i><\/p>\n

For His name\u2019s sake.<\/i><\/p>\n

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,<\/i><\/p>\n

I will fear no evil,<\/i><\/p>\n

For You are with me,<\/i><\/p>\n

Your rod and Your staff,<\/i><\/p>\n

They comfort me.<\/i><\/p>\n

You prepare a table before me<\/i><\/p>\n

In the presence of my enemies.<\/i><\/p>\n

You anoint my head with oil;<\/i><\/p>\n

My cup overflows.<\/i><\/p>\n

Surely your goodness and love will follow me<\/i><\/p>\n

All the days of my life,<\/i><\/p>\n

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord<\/i><\/p>\n

Forever.<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Praise Him,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heavenly Father, You are so magnificent! We praise You, Father, for Your endless mercy and forgiveness because we deserve nothing.\u00a0 Help us to forgive those in our past, present, and future. Heal our hearts, Daddy.\u00a0 We love You, and know that You promise complete healing if we ask.\u00a0 In Jesus’ precious Name, Amen.<\/p>\n
