{"id":3658,"date":"2012-11-13T00:45:01","date_gmt":"2012-11-13T06:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=3658"},"modified":"2013-01-24T23:20:49","modified_gmt":"2013-01-25T04:20:49","slug":"lady-in-waiting-believing-a-liesecure-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2012\/11\/13\/lady-in-waiting-believing-a-liesecure-love\/","title":{"rendered":"Lady In Waiting:  Believing a Lie \/ Secure Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh I have been there.\u00a0 You know that place.\u00a0 The place where you tie your self worth to a man, or whether or not you have a man?\u00a0 Truth be told I still reside there some days.\u00a0 My big issue, since I was young, is that I am never good \u201cenough\u201d.\u00a0 So the fact that after 41 years I am still alone, it just makes me think that those people in my life when I was younger were absolutely right.\u00a0 I\u2019m not good enough and I\u2019ll never be good enough for anyone to love me and want to tell the world they want to be with me for the rest of their life.\u00a0 It\u2019s not always easy.\u00a0 But ladies, this is not where He wants us.\u00a0 He wants us to be secure in His love.\u00a0 What more should we need?<\/p>\n<p>Part of today\u2019s reading assignment brought up issues we have all discussed earlier in the book: Once we put our trust in God to bring us the man He has chosen for us, how much pursuit do we engage in?\u00a0 The authors clearly tell us that we shouldn\u2019t pursue a man.\u00a0 The question that raised for me is \u201cWell, what does that mean?\u00a0 Should we just sit back and wait for this man to knock on our door?\u201d\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if that is the answer.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think relentlessly going after someone, repeatedly, without much reciprocation is the answer either.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t there a happy medium?\u00a0 I believe we can make ourselves available to possibilities without turning ourselves into a servant or doormat to the object of our interest.\u00a0 I believe the keys are to pray about our intentions.\u00a0 Are our motives pure, or are we doing what we are doing to snag a husband.\u00a0 Seek His guidance in the decisions you make regarding him.\u00a0 We can never go wrong when the focus is on Jesus rather than the potential mate.<\/p>\n<p>The other thing we need to look at is why we are striving for this man we pray God has for us so strongly.\u00a0 What is it we are looking for from him?\u00a0 Acceptance, because we don\u2019t accept ourselves?\u00a0 Love, because we don\u2019t love ourselves?\u00a0 Security, because we are full of fear?\u00a0 Worth, because we don\u2019t feel worthy?\u00a0 Well great news!\u00a0 Until we heal, and accept and love ourselves with a sense of security and self worth we deserve, we have someone who already does all that for us!\u00a0 Our Father loves us so much girls!\u00a0 He accepts us, he knows we are worthy, and HE should be the one we seek out for security.\u00a0 No man, not even a husband, can fill the need you have for secure love.<\/p>\n<p>As I type this I feel so strongly about the words I am giving you.\u00a0 I know a big part of the reason is because I need to hear this myself.\u00a0 I need to remember it, I need to believe it, and I need to live it.\u00a0 You are not alone ladies!\u00a0 I struggle with never being good enough, but you know what, if my Abba Father says I am, who am I to go against Him?\u00a0 Am I accepted?\u00a0 My Father says I am.\u00a0 Am I secure?\u00a0 My Father says I am.\u00a0 Am I worthy?\u00a0 My Father says I am.\u00a0 Am I loved?\u00a0 My Father says I am.\u00a0 And so are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">you<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LETS PRAY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Father, reach out to every woman reading these words.\u00a0 Thank you for loving us unconditionally.\u00a0 Thank you for never making us work for it.\u00a0 We know that You are our security.\u00a0 You give us what any ordinary man can not.\u00a0 A love that is pure and never ending.\u00a0 Bless all of us with your peace today and take the burden of matchmaking off our shoulders.\u00a0 We trust in you, and thank you for forgiving us when we sometimes forget that.\u00a0 In Your Holy Name I pray.\u00a0 Amen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOUR ASSIGNMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please share your thoughts on the balance between letting God do His thing while bringing a man to you, and putting yourself out there so that man can have the opportunity to get to know you. \u00a0 Is it cut and dry, do one or the other, or do you have a strategy that satisfies both sides of the situation?<\/p>\n<p>In Him,<\/p>\n<p>Michelle<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n<p><b>For the \u201cLady in Waiting\u201d Bible Study, you will need the book, your Bible, pen or pencil, a highlighter and a quiet place.
