identified by characteristics and names that identify who we are. \u00a0For example, who<i> I <\/i><i>am\u2014<\/i>Coleen\u2014can be described in many ways: wife, mom, tata (grandmother), daughter, sister, friend, worshipper, singer, baker, writer, pray-er, crafter, lover, listener, etc. \u00a0But The Great<strong><i> I AM\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>has described Himself throughout the Scriptures with many names\u2014Yahweh (YHWH), ELohim, Adonai, LORD, Jehovah, JAH, <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>EL Shaddai<\/em><\/span>\u2026.\u00a0 I believe He has used these (and additional) names to graciously help us to understand more of His character.\u00a0 The Great<strong><i> I AM<\/i><\/strong> makes Himself known to us through the words of His Word, as well as\u00a0through His Creation, through His Spirit, through His Son our Lord Jesus Christ, through the words of the prophets\u2014in oh so many ways!<\/p>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>One of my most favorite characteristics of <strong><em>I AM<\/em><\/strong> is that He IS <strong>God Almighty<\/strong>\u2026<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em><strong>El Shaddai<\/strong><\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 Hearing this name brings comfort and peace to my heart!\u00a0 The fact and truth that\u00a0Almighty God\/<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em> <\/span>loves me (and you, too!) and perfectly provides His care, provision, protection, supply of\u00a0my (your!)\u00a0needs is so thrilling to my soul!\u00a0 The most common understanding of the title <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em><\/span> is \u201c<em>God Who is Almighty<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 There are 48 times in the Scriptures where God calls Himself by the name<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em> El Shaddai.<\/em><\/span>\u00a0 Let\u2019s look at just a couple of these records.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When Abram was ninety-nine years old,<br \/>\nthe Lord appeared to him and said,<br \/>\n<strong><i>I AM<\/i> <\/strong>the Almighty God &lt;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em><\/span>&gt;;<br \/>\nwalk and live habitually before Me and be perfect.<br \/>\nGenesis 17:1<\/p>\n<p>This is the very first record in the Scriptures where<strong> <em>I AM<\/em><\/strong> identifies Himself in this way.\u00a0 God Almighty\/<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em><\/span> was about to reveal to Abram a part of the covenant He was making with him.\u00a0 And this is where He promises the 99 year old Abram that he and his 90 year old wife, Sarai, would be having a son!!!\u00a0 This is such a beautiful record!\u00a0 (You can read the complete record\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=gen%2017&amp;version=AMP\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.)\u00a0 Only<em><span style=\"color: #800080;\"> El Shaddai<\/span><\/em> could have made an eternal covenant such as this.\u00a0 Only<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em> El Shaddai<\/em><\/span> could have made a deadened womb to nurture life and bring forth a baby.\u00a0 Only <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em><\/span>\u00a0&#8212; God Almighty!<\/p>\n<p>Another occurrence where the Great <strong><em>I AM<\/em><\/strong> is called by the title <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em> <\/span>is in Psalm 91.\u00a0 The psalmist declares,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High<br \/>\nwill rest in the shadow of the Almighty &lt;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em><\/span>&gt;.<br \/>\nI will say of the Lord, \u201cHe is my Refuge and my Fortress,<br \/>\nmy God, in whom I trust.\u201d<br \/>\nPsalms 91: 1-2<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you, too, rejoice in your heart of hearts that <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai,<\/em><\/span>\u00a0Who is the Great <em><strong>I AM<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>loves and cares for you in the very same ways He has\u00a0always cared for His people.\u00a0 He is God and He does not change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Would you share here in the comments below about this characteristic (or a different one) of the Great <em>I AM<\/em> that is hearts!\u00a0\u00a0 You always show Yourself mighty on behalf of Your children!\u00a0 You are our Refuge and\u00a0our Fortress\u2014our God in Whom we trust!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0May we always be cognizant of Who You\u00a0are\u2026the Great <em><strong>I AM<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0May we be excited to read of and\u00a0to remember Your awesome acts and works that are recorded in the Scriptures.\u00a0\u00a0May they ever and always encourage us to never doubt You, <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>El Shaddai<\/em><\/span>&#8212;You never change!\u00a0 \u2018Erkamka na,
