{"id":29282,"date":"2015-12-29T00:20:29","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T05:20:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=29282"},"modified":"2015-12-28T21:38:23","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T02:38:23","slug":"hebrews-1315-a-sacrifice-of-praise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/12\/29\/hebrews-1315-a-sacrifice-of-praise\/","title":{"rendered":"Hebrews 13:15 ~ A Sacrifice of Praise"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">{<em>This final week of 2015 we will be re-visiting some of my personal favorite themes on which our wonderful writers have shared with us throughout this past year. \u00a0I hope that you (as I was, too!) will be encouraged and reminded of God\u2019s faithfulness and loving care through their inspired words.<\/em>}<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">offer up to God a sacrifice of praise,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">which is the fruit of lips\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #008080; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">that thankfully acknowledge<br \/>\nand confess and glorify His name.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080; font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Hebrews 13:15<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">* \u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0~ \u00a0\u271e \u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0~ \u00a0*<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Oh, what encouragement I have received this week as I\u2019ve read daily through the <em><strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Seeking Him<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>devotional! \u00a0(You, too?) \u00a0Ann, Ahmee, Clella, Cynda, and Tina have each written devotionals reminding me of the importance of offering my praise\u2014<em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">a sacrifice of praise<\/span><\/em>\u2014to our wonderful Father God and drawing me closer to the One Who I do seek to praise and glorify!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>In <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/2014\/11\/23\/fruit-lips\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Fruit Of Lips<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, <strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Cynda<\/span> <\/strong>took a good in-depth look at just what a \u2018sacrifice of praise\u2019 is and asked a really good question\u2026along with a few answers she found.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBut why are we compelled (Hebrews 13:15) to do it \u2018constantly and at all times\u2019? \u00a0Here are just a few of the reasons I found:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>it glorifies God and pleases Him<\/li>\n<li>(because of) His enduring love and goodness<\/li>\n<li>because Jesus did<\/li>\n<li>it is our shared inheritance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote><p>But, I think my <em>favorite reason<\/em> for<strong> giving thanks<\/strong> is to <em>tell others and remind myself of all He has done in my life.\u201c<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>Then, <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Ann<\/strong><\/span> gave us some great reasons in <a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/2014\/11\/24\/22986\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Praise At All Times<\/strong><\/em> <\/a>just WHY we praise God\u2014<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>for what He has done (Psalm 9:11)<\/li>\n<li>a four-fold reason\u2014 because we are \u201c\u2026a chosen people, a loyal priesthood, a holy nation,\u00a0a people belonging to God\u2026.\u201d (1 Peter 2:9)<\/li>\n<li>and, as a commandment (Psalm 63:7)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote><p>She wrote, \u201cSo we are all to praise God; let us make a choice of doing so in the morning \u2026in the afternoon \u2026and in the evening time!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Clella<\/strong> <\/span>shared a wonderful translation of Hebrews 13:15 with us in <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/2014\/11\/25\/proclaim-allegiance-name\/\" target=\"_blank\">Proclaim Allegiance To His Name<\/a>. \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>She wrote,<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe New Living Translation says it this way:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Therefore, let us offer through Jesus<br \/>\na continual sacrifice of praise to God,<br \/>\nproclaiming our allegiance to His Name.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote><p>The phase \u2018<em>proclaiming our allegiance to His Na<\/em>me\u2019 popped out at me. \u00a0It sounded so different than the other translations that refer to \u2018the fruit of lips that confess His Name.\u2019 \u00a0I just had to do a little research to understand what this verse is really saying.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<blockquote><p>\u2013 to \u201c<em>confess<\/em>\u201d God\u2019s Name is to declare, state, acknowledge His Name<br \/>\n\u2013 to \u201c<em>proclaim allegiance<\/em>\u201d is to announce publicly, or to declare something one considers important with due emphasis, which in this case would be one\u2019s loyalty or commitment of a subordinate to a superior.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/2014\/11\/26\/verbal-sacrifice\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><em>Verbal Sacrifice<\/em><\/strong>,<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Ahmee<\/strong> <\/span>brought us back to the central element in Hebrews 13:15 of \u2018sacrifice.\u2019 \u00a0She reminded us of reasons we have to offer our sacrifice of praise.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u201cThose days when you don\u2019t feel like giving praise are the days when praise <strong>is<\/strong> a sacrifice. When we praise God even in our less-than-favorable moments we are saying to Him \u2014 and those around us \u2014<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God is our God<\/li>\n<li>we trust Him with our lives<\/li>\n<li>we trust in Someone bigger than us<\/li>\n<li>we have the Almighty on our side to fight for us\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>And<em>\u00a0<\/em>in<em><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/2014\/11\/26\/verbal-sacrifice\/\" target=\"_blank\">Giving Thanks<\/a>,<\/strong><\/em> <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Tina<\/strong> <\/span>encouraged us to remember how abundantly blessed we are here in the USA.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>\u201cThe Pilgrims were so grateful to have a land to call their own and the freedom to worship God. After such a hard crossing and a hard harvest, they decided to celebrate and praise God for what they had. Let us do the same.
