\u00a0This phrase, which most often has been translated \u201c<em><strong>Praise the Lord,<\/strong><\/em>\u201d is found only a few times throughout all of the Bible. \u00a0We read it in the Book of Revelations, chapter 19, verses 1, 3, 4, 6. \u00a0As well as in the Psalms (#111, 112, 113, 117, 135, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150). \u00a0Many of us are familiar with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YrLk4vdY28Q\" target=\"_blank\">Leonard Cohen\u2019s classic original <\/a>\u2018<em>Hallelujah<\/em>\u2019. \u00a0But the words in that version, while though very stirring, pale in comparison, in my opinion, to the lyrics sung here by the Cloverton boys. \u00a0 Cloverton\u2019s rendition sings out the birth of Jesus, Emmanuel-God with us. \u00a0 Truly, I would call it a modern-day Christmas carol.<\/p>\n<p>It reminds me of another very popular musical piece&#8212;Handel\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wp_RHnQ-jgU\" target=\"_blank\">Hallelujah Chorus<\/a>\u201d from <em>The Messiah<\/em>, his most well-known orchestral composition. \u00a0Now they differ greatly in style, of course\u2026but are very similar in their lyrical content. \u00a0\u00a0Point being, both of these songs were written to sing about the birth of Jesus and praises to \u00a0Almighty God,\u00a0as well as give us, fellow singers and praisers, inspired songs to sing our praises.<\/p>\n<p>In the account in the Gospel of Luke of the announcement of Jesus\u2019 birth to the shepherds, the angel and the \u2018heavenly host\u2019 similarly offered praise to God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host<br \/>\npraising God and saying, \u201cGlory to God in the highest,<br \/>\nAnd on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.\u201d<br \/>\nLuke 1:13 and 14<\/p>\n<p>And upon returning from seeing the Baby and acknowledging the fulfillment of the angel\u2019s words, the shepherds also worshipped and praised God.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph.<br \/>\nAnd there was the Baby, lying in the manger.<br \/>\nAfter seeing Him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened<br \/>\nand what the angel had said to them about this Child.<br \/>\nAll who heard the shepherds\u2019 story were astonished,<br \/>\nbut Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.<br \/>\nThe shepherds went back to their flocks,<br \/>\nglorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.<br \/>\nIt was just as the angel had told them.<br \/>\nverses 15-20<\/p>\n<p>The birth of the Savior certainly was an occasion for much \u2018<span style=\"color: #a11e24;\"><em>Hallelujah<\/em><\/span>-ing,\u2019 wouldn\u2019t you say?! \u00a0And there WAS much praise and glorifying of God!<\/p>\n<p>May I encourage you to take time throughout the busyness and celebrations of this season to voice your praises and gratitude to Almighty God!
