\u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We use the word \u2018<em><strong>hope<\/strong><\/em>\u2019 often in our daily lives. \u00a0We hope it\u2019s a sunny day, we hope there are good sales when we go to the grocery store, we hope we sleep well at night. \u00a0There\u2019s also the more serious hopes. \u00a0We hope our kids stay healthy, we hope we get the job promotion, we hope our budget stretches to the end of the month, we hope we make it to Heaven. \u00a0I\u2019m sure you have heard all of those hopes, have even said them&#8230;and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Those hopeful comments express the day-to-day feeling of desire for a certain thing to happen, a wishful thinking. \u00a0The hope that is sung about in this old hymn is based on a trust in something or someone. \u00a0Defined by one Biblical source it is an &#8216;expectation of, a looking forward to, something beneficial now and in the future&#8217;. \u00a0Another source uses the words &#8216;confidence, to anticipate, welcome, an expectation of what is sure, certain&#8217;, to describe this kind of hope.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed)<br \/>\nof the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see<br \/>\nand the conviction of their reality<br \/>\n[faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].<br \/>\nHebrews 11:1 AMP<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8230;So that by two unchangeable things,<br \/>\nin which it is impossible for God to lie,<br \/>\nwe who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement<br \/>\nto hold fast to the hope set before us.<br \/>\nHebrews 6:19<\/p>\n<p>As a child, I remember \u2018belting out\u2019 the words to this chorus, \u201c<em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">On Christ the solid rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand<\/span><\/em>.\u201d \u00a0I love the words of this old hymn, because they are true. \u00a0The hope I have is <em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">built on Christ, The Rock, His blood and His righteousness<\/span><\/em>. \u00a0That is all I ever want to trust in. All other hope is \u201c<em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">sinking sand<\/span><\/em>.\u201d \u00a0People, as caring and well-meaning as they can be, are not enough to secure my standing before God. \u00a0In the \u201c<em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">high and stormy gale<\/span><\/em>\u201d there is no anchor that holds me like Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>For it says in Scripture:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cBehold, I am laying in Zion a stone,\u00a0a cornerstone chosen and precious,<br \/>\nand whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.\u201d<br \/>\nSo the honor is for you who believe\u2026<br \/>\n1 Peter 2:6-7<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid,<br \/>\nwhich is Jesus Christ.<br \/>\n1 Corinthians 3:11<\/p>\n<p>Here are just a few Scriptures of assurance that God is our Hope, our Refuge, our Strength in life:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">On God my salvation and my glory rest;<br \/>\nThe rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.<br \/>\nPsalm 62:7 NASB<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">He only is my Rock and my Salvation, my Fortress; I shall not be shaken.<br \/>\nPsalm 62:6 ESV<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble;<br \/>\nYou surround me with songs of deliverance.<br \/>\nPsalm 32:7 NASB<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The LORD is my Light and my Salvation; whom shall I fear?<br \/>\nThe LORD is the Stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?<br \/>\nPsalm 27:1 ESV<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present Help in trouble.<br \/>\nTherefore we will not fear\u2026<br \/>\nPsalm 46:1-2 ESV<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.<br \/>\nI will say to the LORD, \u201cMy Refuge and my Fortress,<br \/>\nmy God, in whom I trust.\u201d<br \/>\nPsalm 91:1-2 ESV<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;<br \/>\nI will strengthen you, I will help you,<br \/>\nI will uphold you with My righteous right hand.<br \/>\nIsaiah 41:10 ESV<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I encourage you to meditate on this parable from Jesus:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. \u00a0The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. \u00a0But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. \u00a0The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Matthew 7:24-27<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Who or what is your rock, your refuge?
