My favorite part is the bridge where Ellie Holcomb sings \u201c\u2026<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>there\u2019s a promise I will claim\u2014those whose hope is in Your grace, they will never be ashamed<\/em><\/span>.\u201d \u00a0I, too, claim that promise! \u00a0How about you? \u00a0We have this HOPE\u2026we do rejoice in this HOPE\u2026we are not ashamed by this HOPE.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us,<br \/>\nfor God\u2019s love has been poured out in our hearts<br \/>\nthrough the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.<br \/>\nRomans 5:5 AMP<\/p>\n<p>Leading up to the promise written above, listen to what Paul writes (in verses 1-4):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Therefore, since we have been justified by faith,<br \/>\nwe have peace with God\u00a0through our Lord Jesus Christ.<br \/>\nThrough Him we have also obtained access by faith<br \/>\ninto this grace in which we stand,<br \/>\nand we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.<br \/>\nNot only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings,<br \/>\nknowing that suffering produces endurance,<br \/>\nand endurance produces character,<br \/>\nand character produces hope,<br \/>\nand hope does not put us to shame\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>I trust (and pray) that these words inspire and strengthen your hearts (as they do my own)! \u00a0Truly it is not in our own ability to figure it out but rather to recognize this grace and hope\u2026and believe and trust. \u00a0Our part is to \u2018hold\u2026firm\u2019 and to \u201cstand\u201d and to \u201cgrasp and hold fast.\u201d Jesus did the hard part! \u00a0And God has made His promise and oath!<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif;\">So when trials come (and we know they do!),<br \/>\nand we are suffering (as does happen at times),<br \/>\nwe only need to grab hold<br \/>\nof the sure and steadfast anchor of our soul\u2014our HOPE.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For me, memorizing Scripture is the only sure and reliable way to hold these truths from the Bible in my mind. \u00a0\u2018Cause I can\u2019t always sit down at the computer, and log into some Bible software, and pull up a verse or two! \u00a0Or I don\u2019t always have my Scripture memory book or memorization cards right at my fingertips. \u00a0But (for better or worse!) I do always have my mind with me\u2026and can reach into this treasure of memorized Scripture passages to be encouraged and made strong. \u00a0Here are some additional verses you might memorize (or write down on little cards to carry along with you!).<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live;<br \/>\nand do not let me be ashamed of my hope.<br \/>\nPsalm 119:116<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For we share in Christ, if only we hold our first confidence firm to the end,<br \/>\nHebrews 3:14 RSV<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This was so that, by two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath]<br \/>\nin which it is impossible for God ever to prove false or deceive us,<br \/>\nwe who have fled [to Him] for refuge<br \/>\nmight have mighty indwelling strength and strong encouragement<br \/>\nto grasp and hold fast the hope appointed for us and set before [us].<br \/>\n[Now] we have this [hope] as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it\u2014a hope] that reaches farther and enters into [the very certainty of the Presence] within the veil,<br \/>\nWhere Jesus has entered in for us\u2026.<br \/>\nHebrews 6:18-20 AMP<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I encourage you, friends, to sing along with Ellie; be strong in your conviction that \u201c..<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>.there\u2019s a promise I will claim\u2014those whose hope is in Your grace, they will never be ashamed<\/em>.<\/span>\u201d I am praying for you (myself, too!) that we will remember that we HAVE this HOPE and that we will cling to the anchor of our soul!
