{"id":26584,"date":"2015-07-03T00:30:30","date_gmt":"2015-07-03T04:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=26584"},"modified":"2015-07-02T22:13:49","modified_gmt":"2015-07-03T02:13:49","slug":"peach-pie-waffles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/07\/03\/peach-pie-waffles\/","title":{"rendered":"Peach Pie Waffles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Peach-Pie-Waffles.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-26585\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Peach-Pie-Waffles-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Peach Pie Waffles\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Peach-Pie-Waffles-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Peach-Pie-Waffles-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Peach-Pie-Waffles-300x400.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The kids were clamoring for waffles. \u00a0They usually like berries and maple syrup, but I had a better idea: \u00a0<strong>Peach Pie Waffles<\/strong>! \u00a0They ate these things up like they were going out of style!<\/p>\n<p>The waffle recipe is straight from Martha Stewart. \u00a0She is my go-to resource when I&#8217;m checking out a basic recipe. \u00a0No waffle iron? \u00a0Make pancakes with the batter instead! \u00a0These are quick to put together and the leftover waffles (if you have any &#8211; it made four waffles for me) freeze and reheat very well. \u00a0If you have any leftover peaches, mix them into plain or vanilla yogurt for breakfast. \u00a0Ready? \u00a0It&#8217;s easy as pie!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Peach Pie Waffles<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(makes 4 waffles)<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 large can of sliced or halved peaches, lightly drained<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>1 cup flour (I used whole wheat &#8211; you can use regular, too)<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 cup milk<\/li>\n<li>4 tablespoons butter, melted<\/li>\n<li>whipped cream to serve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In a medium non-stick pan (or use a regular pan and add a tablespoon of butter!) pour in the can of peaches. \u00a0Add the cinnamon and nutmeg. \u00a0Let simmer while you make the waffles. \u00a0Mash them with a potato masher if you like, or with the back of a fork. \u00a0Keep an eye on them to make sure nothing burns.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. \u00a0In a smaller bowl, beat the eggs and stir in the milk. \u00a0Whisk the egg mixture into the dry mix. \u00a0Stir in the melted butter.<\/li>\n<li>Make the waffles according to your waffle maker&#8217;s instructions. \u00a0Mine called for half a cup of batter for each waffle, and this recipe made four waffles. \u00a0If you&#8217;re making pancakes, you&#8217;ll get &#8230; I&#8217;m not sure. \u00a0Maybe 8? \u00a0Anyway, cook them how you normally do, then set aside and plate up.<\/li>\n<li>To serve: \u00a0top each waffle with a ladle of hot peaches and a good shot of whipped cream.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Explore, experiment, enjoy!<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Dana<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>To view even more of Dana\u2019s unique recipe, you can visit her at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/frugalgirlmet.blogspot.com\/\">Frugal Girlmet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The kids were clamoring for waffles. \u00a0They usually like berries and maple syrup, but I had a better idea: \u00a0Peach Pie Waffles! \u00a0They ate these things up like they were going out of style!
