Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowd. After He had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside by Himself to pray. \u00a0Later that night, He was there alone, and the boat was already\u00a0a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. \u00a0<\/span>Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. \u00a0When the disciples saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a ghost,\u201d they said, and cried out in fear. \u00a0But Jesus immediately said to them: \u201cTake courage! It is I. Don\u2019t be afraid.\u201d \u00a0\u201cLord, if it\u2019s You,\u201d Peter replied, \u201ctell me to come to You on the water.\u201d \u00a0\u201cCome,\u201d He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. \u00a0But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink cried out, \u201cLord, save me!\u201d Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. \u201cYou of little faith,\u201d He said, \u201cwhy did you doubt?\u201d\u00a0<\/span>And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. \u00a0Then those who were in the boat worshipped Him, saying, \u201cTruly You are the Son of God.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

How many times have you heard this story? \u00a0(If you’ve grown up in church, I know you’ve probably seen a felt board or two with this story demonstrated.) \u00a0These stories never get old though.<\/p>\n

In this story, Jesus had just finished performing miracles and He sent His disciples on ahead of Him in a boat. \u00a0As they continued on, there came a storm and winds. \u00a0Then Jesus started to walk out there to them…yes…He walked on water. \u00a0In fact, the disciples thought He was a ghost! \u00a0The thing to remember is—Jesus knew that there was a storm coming but He sent them on anyway.\u00a0\u00a0Maybe it was that He wanted to prove to them that He was stronger than any storm.<\/p>\n

Jesus really is<\/strong> bigger than what you are going through. \u00a0And He knew, too, exactly where you would be today. \u00a0Are you going to trust Him? \u00a0What if He asks you to walk on water…like He asked Peter? \u00a0Would you stay afloat with your eyes on Him or would you sink in your circumstances? \u00a0Oh, friend, Jesus wants so much for you to trust Him, and to look to Him, and know that He is able to calm any storm or still those crashing waves around you. \u00a0Take that first step of faith today and walk out onto the water and meet your Savior! \u00a0Then, like Peter, you will say “Truly You are the Son of God!”<\/p>\n

Do you know Him? \u00a0He knows you<\/span> and He wants you to know Him<\/strong><\/em><\/span>. \u00a0I hope you will pray this with me today…<\/p>\n

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I need a Savior. \u00a0I believe that Jesus is Your Son and that He died on the Cross for my sins. \u00a0So I ask You to come into my heart and be Lord of my life. \u00a0Help me to walk closer to You. \u00a0In Jesus’ name, amen.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
