{"id":26369,"date":"2015-06-19T00:25:31","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T04:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=26369"},"modified":"2015-06-18T20:53:55","modified_gmt":"2015-06-19T00:53:55","slug":"he-is-my-rock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/06\/19\/he-is-my-rock\/","title":{"rendered":"He Is My Rock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/encouragementbloggraphicromans15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20533\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/encouragementbloggraphicromans15.jpg\" alt=\"encouragementbloggraphicromans15\" width=\"425\" height=\"304\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/encouragementbloggraphicromans15.jpg 425w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/encouragementbloggraphicromans15-300x214.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008000;\">Since You are my Rock and my Fortress, <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008000;\">for the sake of Your Name, lead and guide me. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008000;\">Psalm 31:3<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The verse today comes from one of my favorite chapters in the Book of Psalms. \u00a0Might I suggest that you read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=psalm%2031%3A1-8&amp;version=NASB;NLT;NIV;AMP;E\" target=\"_blank\">verses 1-8<\/a>? \u00a0Here we see David asking God for deliverance from his enemies. \u00a0He is trudging along right now and life is really not going very good for him. \u00a0{Can you relate?} \u00a0See, back in the days of David, people were only aware of the hardships and trials that were going on right around them. \u00a0But today, we get to see worldwide disasters day-by-day on TV right in our kitchens! \u00a0We see so much violence and poverty and hatred that the good out there, well, it never makes the news.<\/p>\n<p>So what does it do to us when we hear crisis after crisis? \u00a0Does it harden our hearts? \u00a0If so, don&#8217;t you think it is a defense&#8212;a wall that we have built around our hearts because of fear? \u00a0We build wall upon wall to keep from feeling the hurt. \u00a0But those same walls that keep things from coming in&#8230;they also keep love from coming out. \u00a0What if those walls become like a prison? \u00a0This is not what God wants for us. \u00a0He wants us to know that He is so able to help in our time of need.<\/p>\n<p>We spend a whole lot of time, though, trying to avoid every kind of pain. \u00a0Including prayers begging God to deliver us or a friend or a family member from hardship that will cause them (or ourselves) hurt. \u00a0Isn&#8217;t that what God wants us to do&#8212;to ask? The answer is yes. \u00a0But the idea is not to live a life without any hurt and pain but rather to have God with us always&#8230;in the midst of it all&#8230;and to see His glory in all that happens around us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.<br \/>\nEach time He said, \u201cMy grace is all you need.<br \/>\nMy power works best in weakness.\u201d<br \/>\nSo now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses,<br \/>\nso that the power of Christ can work through me.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults,<br \/>\nhardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ.<br \/>\nFor when I am weak, then I am strong.<br \/>\n2 Corinthians 12:8-10 NLT<\/p>\n<p>If God can bring glory to Himself without allowing us any pain, He really will! \u00a0But when He can&#8217;t, be ready for a little pain. \u00a0And know this: <strong><em>it will be worth it\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Yet what we suffer now is nothing<br \/>\ncompared to the glory He will reveal to us later.<br \/>\nRomans 8:18\u00a0NLT<\/p>\n<p>God sent Jesus to come so that we might have life and have it abundantly. \u00a0But living behind a wall of fear isn&#8217;t the life that God intended for us. \u00a0The walls that we have built to keep pain away must be replaced with God. <strong>\u00a0He<\/strong> <em>is to be our Fortress<\/em> and <strong>He<\/strong> <em>alone can protect us from evil<\/em>. \u00a0<strong>He<\/strong> <em>is the Rock<\/em> that we must build our home on and not on the shifting sand of this world.<\/p>\n<p>And we must not become so hard that we forget to love and are not able to feel anything for others anymore. \u00a0God wants us to love and to love so much! \u00a0And when there is hurt and pain then we are to have compassion, and to call on His name. \u00a0He will come near&#8212;He promises. \u00a0Oh, I pray that we will not let this world change us; but that we will let God break down barriers to get to us. \u00a0May we remember that we will bend, but we will not break because we are His&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Where are you today&#8230;are you living behind walls that need to come down? \u00a0Jesus can do this for you. \u00a0If you don&#8217;t have Him as your Savior, I hope today you will pray this simple prayer with me and cross the line to life!<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. \u00a0I am so tired of hurting. I need forgiveness. \u00a0I believe that Jesus is Your Son and He died for me on the Cross with my sins on Him. \u00a0He is the Savior and I want Him to be Lord of my life. \u00a0Come into my heart today.
