{"id":26331,"date":"2015-06-19T00:20:21","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T04:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=26331"},"modified":"2015-06-16T15:10:11","modified_gmt":"2015-06-16T19:10:11","slug":"this-week-jeremiah-2911","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/06\/19\/this-week-jeremiah-2911\/","title":{"rendered":"This Week&#8230;Jeremiah 29:11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008080;\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>For I know the plans I have for you,\u201d says the\u00a0<span class=\"small-caps\">Lord<\/span>. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008080;\">\u201cThey are plans for good and not for disaster, <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008080;\">to give you a future and a hope.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; color: #008080;\">Jeremiah 29:11<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This week, here on the<strong><em> Seeking Him<\/em><\/strong> devotional blog, we are continuing a mini-series on the subject of <strong>HOPE<\/strong>. \u00a0Our devotional writers have shared the Truth given us in this week\u2019s passage reminding us that God&#8217;s plans give us &#8216;a future and a hope!&#8217;\u00a0\u00a0Here are a few of their thoughts\u2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In<strong><em> Hope for Good<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Ahmee\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">wrote reminding us that God is good and only gives good&#8230;.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Jeremiah 29:11 is one of the most popular Scriptures known to Christians\u2026that and John 3:16. \u00a0Jeremiah 29:11 has been misquoted, misused, and misunderstood, as well. \u00a0 Sometimes, we like to take Scripture and toss it around, in a well-meaning (but incorrect) fashion. \u00a0What I like most about Jeremiah 29:11, though, is that it reminds you that God cares for you and all that you do.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God is on our side.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He does not harm us<\/li>\n<li>He does no ill to us<\/li>\n<li>He does not give us cancer<\/li>\n<li>He does not cause accidents<\/li>\n<li>He does not burn down houses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He does not do any of those things! \u00a0There is no burning down your house to give you a better house. \u00a0God doesn\u2019t do wrong, bad things, or cause harm. \u00a0God, however, <em>can make good come out of bad<\/em>. \u00a0But He does not make bad happen so that good can happen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>In <strong><em>God&#8217;s Declarations and Thoughts<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Ann<\/span><\/strong> wrote about the importance of following God&#8217;s example in making declarations&#8230;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Jeremiah 29:11 declaration which God made is so powerful. \u00a0This shows that declarations are a way of establishing things in our lives. \u00a0His declaration shows how He thinks of us, along with His will and His purpose for our lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Thou shall declare a thing and it shall be established.<br \/>\nJob 22:28<\/p>\n<p>What is it you declare and think about your life&#8230;family&#8230;job&#8230;school, etc? \u00a0Be positive: declare and think that which will make your future bright. \u00a0God&#8217;s thoughts over us are of good&#8230;not of evil; and He declares the same. \u00a0As we think of ourselves, we, too, should not think that which is evil but only that which is good and declare it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>In <strong><em>Hope in the Lord,<\/em> <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Tina<\/span><\/strong> reminded us of Daniel&#8217;s example of holding to hope through intercessory prayer&#8230;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Daniel, who was one of those who were taken into exile in Babylon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In the first year of his rule, I, Daniel, saw clearly from the books<br \/>\nthe number of years\u00a0given by the word of the Lord<br \/>\nto the prophet Jeremiah,\u00a0in which the making waste of Jerusalem<br \/>\nwas to be complete, that is, seventy years.<br \/>\nDaniel 9:2 BBE<\/p>\n<p>Daniel was a man after God\u2019s own heart. \u00a0He immediately began praying, asking forgiveness of sins for himself and for those of God\u2019s people. \u00a0Daniel was in reverent awe of God\u2019s mercy, grace, and righteousness toward them. \u00a0Daniel\u2019s prayer is an example of intercessory prayer. \u00a0We should all strive to do this, and most of us moms do pray and intercede regularly for our children and our family. \u00a0Our hope is in God\u2019s mercy and forgiveness. \u00a0We have to be willing for God to use us where needed. \u00a0He will use our willingness to serve to give <em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">hope<\/span> <\/em>to those who have no <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>hope<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Often, when we feel we are not worthy, that is when God will use us. \u00a0When we are empty of ourselves is when God can fill us with His <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>hope<\/em> <\/span>and joy until it overflows and effects others around us.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>In<strong><em> The Big Picture<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Cynda<\/span><\/strong> reminded us of the security our hope gives us because of the One in whom we trust and <em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">hope<\/span><\/em>&#8230;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Job 11:18 ESV states &#8220;And you will feel secure, because there is <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>hope<\/em><\/span>; you will look around and take your rest in security.&#8221; \u00a0<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>Hope<\/em> <\/span>gives us security. \u00a0There is no need to rush ahead, to solve the problem, or to \u00a0resolve the issue, without waiting for God&#8217;s instructions. \u00a0Because we have <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>hope<\/em> <\/span>we can rest, secure in the knowledge that God has the perfect plan for us. \u00a0He sees the big picture and knows exactly what needs to happen and when. \u00a0His time frame, not ours.<\/p>\n<p>When the Lord is our <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>hope<\/em><\/span>,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He becomes our Help and our Shield (Psalm 33:20)<\/li>\n<li>He shows us mercy and love us steadfastly (Psalm 33:18)<\/li>\n<li>He faithfully answers our prayers (Psalm 65:5) [just not always in the ways we think they should be answered]<\/li>\n<li>He is our trust and confidence (Psalm 71:5)<\/li>\n<li>We are blessed (Jeremiah 17:7)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Lord is our <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>hope<\/em><\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0We can have confidence that our future is secure in His hands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif;\">Let all that I am wait quietly upon only God. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif;\">May I silently submit to Him, <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif;\">for He is my <em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">hope<\/span><\/em>. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', sans-serif;\">Psalm 62:5<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0For I know the plans I have for you,\u201d says the\u00a0Lord. \u201cThey are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
