(not just the words but the actual lyric) has been popping into my mind repeatedly. \u00a0I started to wonder what it really means to <strong><em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">thrive<\/span><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Often, &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>to thrive<\/em><\/span>&#8216; is associated with prospering, or to prosper. \u00a0If you took a poll, most people would probably say that to &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>thrive<\/em><\/span>&#8216; or to &#8216;<em>prosper<\/em>&#8216; means having all you need and more&#8230;being able to live comfortably and have all the extras too&#8230;blessed beyond measure. \u00a0As I read <a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/commentaries\/guzik\/commentaries\/19001.htm\" target=\"_blank\">this commentary<\/a> by David Guzik, I thought &#8220;what if &#8216;to <em><span style=\"color: #800080;\">thrive<\/span><\/em>&#8216; isn&#8217;t just about material things but is also about digging in and maturing spiritually?&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It isn&#8217;t that the righteous man has a &#8220;Midas Touch,&#8221; and everything he does makes him rich and comfortable. But in the life of the righteous man, God brings forth something good and wonderful out of everything. Even tough circumstances bring forth something that shall prosper.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.takethethrivechallenge.com\/thrive\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Hall says<\/a> this song \u00a0&#8220;&#8230;is an effort to draw a picture of what a believer, a follower of Jesus, would look like if they dug into their roots and understood God and themselves more.\u201d \u00a0As I looked for Scriptures about <span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>thriving<\/em><\/span>, I found most of the Old Testament Scriptures use &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>thrive<\/em><\/span>&#8216; in the context of plants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the smell of water makes it <strong>thrive<\/strong> and produce twigs like a sapling.<br \/>\nJob 14:9 HCSB<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;may the people <strong>thrive<\/strong> like grass in a field.<br \/>\nPsalm 72:16 NLT<\/li>\n<li>The righteous <strong>thrive<\/strong> like a palm tree and grow like a cedar tree<br \/>\nPsalm 92:12 HCSB<\/li>\n<li>Planted in the house of the Lord, they <strong>thrive<\/strong>&#8230;<br \/>\nPsalm 92:13 HCSB<\/li>\n<li>They will <strong>thrive<\/strong> like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank.<br \/>\nIsaiah 44:4 NLT<\/li>\n<li>I made you <strong>thrive<\/strong> like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured and became very beautiful.<br \/>\nEzekiel 16:7 NKJ<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In these verses, &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>thrive&#8217;<\/em><\/span>\u00a0seems to be related to growth. \u00a0They speak to me of being firmly planted and deeply rooted, growing even in the hardest of times. \u00a0Enduring and beautiful. \u00a0Could it be that &#8216;<span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>thrive&#8217;<\/em> <\/span>means to grow spiritually?
