{"id":25998,"date":"2015-05-28T00:20:25","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T04:20:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=25998"},"modified":"2015-05-27T16:03:53","modified_gmt":"2015-05-27T20:03:53","slug":"sanctuary-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/05\/28\/sanctuary-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Don\u2019t you yourselves know that you are God\u2019s sanctuary<br \/>\nand that the Spirit of God lives in you?<br \/>\n1 Corinthians 3:16<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">* \u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0~ \u00a0\u271e \u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0~ \u00a0*<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>From Dictionary.com:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sanctuary &#8211; a sacred or holy place<\/li>\n<li>Temple &#8211; an edifice or place dedicated to the service or worship of a deity or deities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Paul was writing to the Corinthian Church, which was surrounded with idols and other pagan ways. \u00a0He was trying to encourage them to keep on the right path. \u00a0As with today&#8217;s church, we have to be mindful of the teachings that we submit ourselves to.<\/p>\n<p>Oftentimes, when I hear someone speak of &#8216;keeping the temple pure&#8217;, I think of what I eat&#8230;not necessarily what I watch on television or what I might listen to on the radio, but those are important, too. \u00a0If I allow negative thoughts and feelings to enter my mind and stay there, I will become depressed and will struggle to focus on what is right and true.<\/p>\n<p>It can also be the result of negative words spoken to us as a child. \u00a0Those can be overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit. \u00a0When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit indwells us to give us the power to overcome.<\/p>\n<p>Just as the Spirit of God was there from the beginning.<\/p>\n<div class=\"list\">\n<p class=\"hang-2 chapter-1\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span id=\"en-NIV-2\" class=\"text Gen-1-2\">Now the earth was formless and empty,<br \/>\ndarkness was over the surface of the deep,<br \/>\nand the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.<\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-2\" class=\"text Gen-1-2\"><br \/>\nGenesis 1:2\u00a0<span class=\"passage-display-version\">\u00a0NIV<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"hang-2 chapter-1\">The Spirit was also there when David fought Goliath and defeated him (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+samuel+17&amp;version=NASB;NLT;NIV;AMP;KJV\" target=\"_blank\">see 1 Samuel 17<\/a>). \u00a0David had no doubt that God would be there. \u00a0When the giant appeared to insult God, David knew he needed to defend Him. We know God could have struck down the giant, but this was the opportunity David needed to show himself worthy to be chosen as the next king of Israel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"hang-2 chapter-1\">What giants are you facing? \u00a0Have you faced them already? \u00a0I pray you will have the simple courage David displayed. \u00a0His faith was borne out of continued living in God&#8217;s presence and seeking God&#8217;s help in all situations. \u00a0Being a shepherd requires a lot of care and attention to the small things.
