Recorded in the Gospel of John, our Lord made seven statements referring to Himself as I AM<\/em><\/strong>\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

I AM<\/strong> The Light of the World
\nI AM<\/strong> The Bread of Life
\nI AM<\/strong> The Door <\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Good Shepherd
\nI AM<\/strong> The True Vine <\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Way, The Truth, and The Life<\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Resurrection and The Life<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Each week during this season of Lent, here on the Seeking Him<\/em> blog, we will be focusing our devotionals on a different aspect of Jesus\u2019 revelation of Himself as I AM<\/em><\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 The aim of Lent should be to prepare our hearts for the remembrance of Jesus\u2019 sacrifice\u2014His trial and torture, the Crucifixion and His death\u2026and above all, the celebration of His Resurrection from the dead. \u00a0We pray that this will be a great encouragement to each of you who read them. \u00a0And that all of us will consider the significance of Jesus\u2019 words and, through them, be helped as we remember and are thankful for all Jesus went through during the last few weeks of His life on this earth.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/sup>Jesus said to him,<\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> the Way and the Truth and the Life<\/em>;<\/span>
\nno one comes to the Father except by (through) Me. <\/span>
\nJohn 14:6<\/span><\/p>\n

This week, here on the Seeking Him<\/em> devotional blog, we have listened to the words of our Lord recorded in John chapter 14. \u00a0Here Jesus made it clear that He is the only<\/strong> Way<\/em><\/span> to the Father. \u00a0 Jesus was direct in His words…it was ‘all or nothing’ (as Cynda so succintly put it)! \u00a0Our devotional writers have shared some insight on these words spoken by our Lord\u2026specifically regarding the statement He made,\u00a0\u201cI AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life<\/strong>.<\/span>\u201d \u00a0 \u00a0Here are a few highlights from the devotionals that Tina, Laura, Cynda, Ann, and Ahmee wrote to encourage us.<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *<\/span><\/p>\n

In One Path<\/em>, Cynda<\/span><\/strong> encouraged us to believe<\/span> Jesus’ statement in verse 6.<\/p>\n

“In this verse, Jesus makes a very bold statement\u2014one that forces us to make a decision. \u00a0It is an all-or-nothing deal. \u00a0There is simply no middle ground. Either Jesus is the only<\/strong>\u00a0Way<\/em><\/span> to the Father or Jesus is not telling the truth. \u00a0(That was so hard for me to type!)<\/p>\n

Consider the following verses:<\/p>\n

Jesus said to her, \u201cI AM<\/strong><\/span> the Resurrection and the Life.
\nThe one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live.
\nEveryone who lives and believes in Me will never die\u2014ever.
\nDo you believe this?\u201d
\nJohn 11:25-26 HCSB<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you believe<\/span> this?<\/em><\/strong>\u201d \u00a0That is the crux of the matter. \u00a0Those four words sum it up in a nutshell. \u00a0 What do you believe?”<\/p>\n

In Your Compass<\/em>, Ahmee<\/span><\/strong> reminded us of the importance of knowing the Truth from the Scriptures.<\/p>\n

“If ever we wonder what we should do, we have a Compass to point us in the right direction. \u00a0Jesus said that He is \u201c\u2026The Way, The Truth, and The Life<\/span><\/em>.\u201d \u00a0So, when we come across new teachings we need to be diligent in comparing this teaching to the Word of God that we know.<\/p>\n

Anyone can look at the Bible and interpret it the way they want; but that doesn\u2019t mean that you should blindly follow every interpretation of the Bible. \u00a0Go to it and read for yourself. \u00a0What does God say to you about what you are reading, and what does He say to you about the teaching you just heard?<\/p>\n

There are concepts and things in the Bible that we KNOW for a fact. \u00a0We would know it immediately if we were to hear a teaching that contradicted what we KNOW to be true from our time spent in the Word.”<\/p>\n

\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n

In Jesus IS The Way, The Truth, and The Life<\/em>, Ann<\/span><\/strong> pointed out the dangers of being without The Way, The Truth, and The Life!<\/p>\n

“Without The Way<\/strong><\/em><\/span>?\u00a0 There is no going\u2026where can you go if there is no way through? \u00a0We cannot go to the Father except through Jesus. \u00a0The way gives us access to wherever we want to go. \u00a0Therefore Jesus is the True Access to the many blessings the Lord has in store for us.<\/p>\n

Without The Truth<\/strong><\/em><\/span>?\u00a0Wow, just having Christ in us and us in Him we are assured of having knowledge of the truth of the great things\u2014for Christ knows all. \u00a0For it means we know God, too!<\/p>\n

Jesus is life. \u00a0Without The Life<\/strong><\/span>? \u00a0W<\/em>ell, \u00a0\u201cno Jesus=no life\u201d. \u00a0Accepting Him as the Lord and Savior gives us eternal life. \u00a0We thank God for giving us life through Christ Jesus.”<\/p>\n

In The Map to Salvation<\/em>, Laura<\/span><\/strong> reminded us of the practical application of being able to follow directions when we follow Jesus.<\/p>\n

“Here on Earth, directions can be very confusing. \u00a0Directions can especially be confusing when landmarks are similar, or the person giving them can confuse me if they start describing landmarks or road names when I have never been in the area. \u00a0It is probably this way for a lot of people.<\/p>\n

Yet, when it comes to eternal life, we have a great road map for directions! \u00a0Jesus gave us this road map when He spent His last moments before the Crucifixion with His disciples. \u00a0He told them that He<\/strong> is the Way<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>to God. \u00a0He<\/strong> is the Truth<\/em><\/strong><\/span> from God. \u00a0Jesus brought God\u2019s truth to us and gave us the\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>life<\/strong><\/em><\/span>.”<\/p>\n

And in Know The Father Through His Son Jesus<\/em>, Tina<\/span><\/strong> pointed out how Jesus, being the very image of His Father, made Him known to the Apostles.<\/p>\n

“Through their training and living with Jesus, the Apostles may have just looked at him as just a man with an anointing from God. \u00a0Not as Who He truly is\u2014Jesus being the image of God. \u00a0This thought is pretty cool though. \u00a0Just think of being around Jesus, who is the image of God, for three years. \u00a0I would imagine I might \u00a0just take for granted Jesus being with us everyday, not thinking He was going to ever leave. \u00a0I would, not intentionally, not listen as intently. I would hear, but not really. \u00a0Then once He was gone I would regret not having been more intentional in listening, as well as noting every<\/strong><\/em>thing being said\u2026watching the miracles being performed\u2026wishing I had asked for God to anoint me in much the same way as His Son. ”<\/p>\n
