All of them deserted Jesus in the end. \u00a0Then one of the women comes running to tell them that Jesus was gone from His grave. \u00a0Suddenly, there is hope, there is an excited expectation&#8230;though still mingled with \u00a0doubt.<\/p>\n<p>Then, running out to the tomb, they see for themselves that it is indeed empty. \u00a0How can this be? \u00a0Who could have rolled the stone away and taken His body? \u00a0Then an angel appears telling them that Jesus has risen and asking them why do you look for him here?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"chapter-2\"><span id=\"en-NIV-25997\" class=\"text Luke-24-5\">In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, \u201cWhy do you look for the living among the dead?<\/span> \u00a0&#8230;<span id=\"en-NIV-25999\" class=\"text Luke-24-7\"><span class=\"woj\">The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0&#8230;<\/span><span id=\"en-NIV-26000\" class=\"text Luke-24-8\"><sup class=\"versenum\">\u00a0<\/sup>Then they remembered His words. \u00a0&#8230;<\/span>Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb.
