{"id":24912,"date":"2015-03-14T00:20:01","date_gmt":"2015-03-14T04:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=24912"},"modified":"2015-03-13T13:04:43","modified_gmt":"2015-03-13T17:04:43","slug":"this-week-i-am-the-door-john-101-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/03\/14\/this-week-i-am-the-door-john-101-10\/","title":{"rendered":"This Week&#8230;I AM the Door (John 10:1-10)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Recorded in the Gospel of John, our Lord made seven statements referring to Himself as <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>I AM<\/em><\/strong>\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em><strong>I AM<\/strong> The Light of the World<br \/>\n<strong>I AM<\/strong> The Bread of Life<br \/>\n<strong>I AM<\/strong> The Door <\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em><strong>I AM<\/strong> The Good Shepherd<br \/>\n<strong>I AM<\/strong> The True Vine <\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em><strong>I AM<\/strong> The Way, The Truth, and The Life<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em><strong>I AM<\/strong> The Resurrection and The Life<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each week during this season of Lent, here on the <em>Seeking Him<\/em> blog, we will be focusing our devotionals on a different aspect of Jesus\u2019 revelation of Himself as<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em> I AM<\/em><\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 The aim of Lent should be to prepare our hearts for the remembrance of Jesus\u2019 sacrifice\u2014His trial and torture, the Crucifixion and His death\u2026and above all, the celebration of His Resurrection from the dead. \u00a0We pray that this will be a great encouragement to each of you who read them. \u00a0And that all of us will consider the significance of Jesus\u2019 words and, through them, be helped as we remember and are thankful for all Jesus went through during the last few weeks of His life on this earth.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"verse\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><span id=\"en-AMP-26487\" class=\"text John-10-7\">So Jesus said again, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you,<br \/>\nthat <strong>I Myself am the Door<\/strong> for the sheep.<br \/>\n<\/span>All others who came [as such] before Me are thieves and robbers,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\">but the [true] sheep did not listen to <i>and\u00a0<\/i>obey them.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><span id=\"en-AMP-26489\" class=\"text John-10-9\"><strong>I AM the Door<\/strong>; anyone who enters in through Me will be saved (will live).<br \/>\nHe will come in and he will go out [freely], and will find pasture.<br \/>\n<\/span>The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\">I came that they may have <i>and<\/i> enjoy life,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\">and have it in abundance (to the full, till itoverflows).<\/span><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">John 10:7-10 AMP<\/span><\/h5>\n<p>Another incredible promise that Jesus gave&#8230;how grateful and thankful are we?!!? \u00a0 This past week, here on the<em> Seeking Him<\/em> devotional blog, our sisters have shared some insight on these words spoken by our Lord. \u00a0Here are a few highlights from the devotionals that Tina, Laura, Cynda, Ann, and Ahmee wrote to encourage us.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong><em>The Door Is Our Protection<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Cynda\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">shared a bit of the enlightenment she received&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;as I was studying commentaries on this passage, I came across a statement that made me pause. \u00a0Had I perhaps missed an additional meaning in this Scripture? \u00a0Had I stopped short without completely understanding the depth of this Scripture?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIn a &#8216;field&#8217; sheepfold, the shepherd actually laid his body across the entrance, to keep the sheep in and to keep out the wolves.\u201d \u2013 David Guzik<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I totally get the symbolism that Christ<em> laid down His life for our <strong>salvation<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0But I missed the part about Him being<em> our <strong>protection<\/strong><\/em>. Christ is there to protect us from the evil one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In <strong><em>The Gate for the Sheep<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Ahmee\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">helped us to see the value of each of our differing journeys to salvation. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our stories are so different. \u00a0True, but there is something in common with all our stories\u2014<em>we all said \u2018<strong>yes<\/strong>!\u2019 to Jesus. \u00a0<\/em>There is no other way. \u00a0So, <strong>before<\/strong> the yes, our stories are very different.<strong> After<\/strong> the yes, our stories are very different. It is even possible that<strong> during<\/strong> the yes, our stories are very different.<\/p>\n<p>The point is, Jesus said that <strong><em>He is the Gate<\/em><\/strong> for the sheep. \u00a0Well, sisters (and brothers) we all walked through that same Gate! \u00a0Saying this makes me want to high-five each and every one of you. \u00a0We are \u2018in\u2019 because of our Savior. \u00a0Yay for us! What an awesome feeling it is to have walked through the Gate. \u00a0Why not bring someone along?&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In <strong><em>The Door To a New Life<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Tina<\/span><\/strong> also wrote about salvation&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As verse 9 states, Jesus wants to give us salvation. All we have to do is ask. \u00a0Then believe we are forgiven of all of our sins. \u00a0Change our lives and begin living for God. \u00a0This changes everything. \u00a0Believing and developing a trust in God will empower you in every area of your life. You will believe you can speak before a crowd to share your testimony with others. \u00a0You will be able to tell your story with such conviction and self confidence. \u00a0You will be proud. &#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In <strong><em>Re-Entering The Door<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Laura<\/span><\/strong> encouraged us to recognize that \u00a0the Door&#8212;Jesus&#8212;rescues us from\u00a0distractions of this world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, we can easily reenter that <strong>Door <\/strong>when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. \u00a0Christ opened the door to redemption when He died on the Cross for our sins. \u00a0He reconciled us to God, so we may have eternal life. A s the children of God, we should pay attention to Jesus and being faithful to Him. \u00a0We should not listen to a world that has turned away from God. \u00a0If we turn away from God then we will die a certain death when Judgment Day arrives. \u00a0All we have to do is see Jesus\u2019 open <strong>Door<\/strong>, give up the worldly distractions, and accept Jesus as our Savior. \u00a0When we cross over the threshold of that <strong>Door<\/strong>, we are no longer of this world. &#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In<strong><em> The Door Gives Access<\/em>, <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Ann<\/span><\/strong> reminded us of the abundant life available to those who accept Jesus as Lord. (Check out the list of Scriptures she provided for us!)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Jesus said, &#8216;<em><strong>I AM <\/strong><\/em><strong>The Door&#8217;<\/strong>\u00a0\u2026what does this imply? \u00a0He is giving us access to use Him because those who enter through Jesus will be saved\u2014they will have abundant life (verse 10); they will have all they need to be delivered from sin, guilt, condemnation.
