Recorded in the Gospel of John, our Lord made seven statements referring to Himself as I AM<\/span><\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n

I AM<\/strong> The Light of the World <\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Good Shepherd<\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Way, The Truth, and The Life<\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Bread of Life<\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The True Vine<\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Door<\/em><\/span>
\nI AM<\/strong> The Resurrection and the Life<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Each week during this season of Lent, here on the Seeking Him<\/em> blog, we will be focusing our devotionals on a different aspect of Jesus\u2019 revelation of Himself as I AM<\/span>. The aim of Lent should be to prepare our hearts for the remembrance of Jesus\u2019 sacrifice\u2014His trial and torture, the Crucifixion and His death\u2026and above all, the celebration of His Resurrection from the dead. \u00a0We pray that this will be a great encouragement to each of you who read them. \u00a0And that all of us will consider the significance of Jesus\u2019 words and, through them, be helped as we remember and are thankful for all Jesus went through during the last few weeks of His life on this earth.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u271e\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0~ \u00a0\u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 *\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then Jesus spoke to them again: \u201cI AM<\/strong> the Light of the world. <\/span>
\nAnyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness <\/span>
\nbut will have the Light of life.\u201d <\/span>
\nJohn 8:12<\/span><\/p>\n

God makes a lot of promises and (unlike human promises) He keeps each one. \u00a0God created the very things we need to sustain physical life. \u00a0We find our purpose in this God. \u00a0We are meant to live our lives for this God. \u00a0Everything we are, and everything we will be, should be for Him and His glory.<\/p>\n

The Bible is about this God we don’t see, but Who we can know oh, so intimately. \u00a0We have the privilege of getting to know the Creator of the world. \u00a0He tells us very clearly all about Himself in His “I AM” statements. \u00a0Thankfully, we don’t have to guess about the Lord of all Creation.<\/p>\n

Jesus said He is the Light of the World.<\/em><\/span> \u00a0Light emphasizes the details of things and promotes clarity. \u00a0We spend a majority of our time in the light. \u00a0During the day we have the sun, during the night we have electricity. \u00a0Most people don’t just sit in the dark. \u00a0If they do, typically something is wrong. \u00a0I don’t like the light when I have a migraine because it’s too bright and makes the pain worse. \u00a0When people are sad or depressed you might find them sitting in the dark. \u00a0People refer to bad times as “dark times.”<\/p>\n

Light is important to us. \u00a0Jesus said He is the Light of the World.<\/span> <\/em>Therefore, Jesus is important to us; especially when it comes to navigating this dark world. \u00a0We do not have to aimlessly wonder around the world, merely existing and lost. \u00a0God will show us what we need to do. \u00a0God will show us where we need to be. \u00a0The key is to follow Him<\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0If God goes left and we go right, are we really following Him? \u00a0No. \u00a0Therefore, if He is not in the lead, then our Light is not in front of us, we cannot see. \u00a0We must face the Light at all times, and stay with Him for the Light to be of use to us.<\/p>\n

Your Word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.
\nPsalm 119:105<\/p>\n

We have no reason to wander. \u00a0No reason to be scared. \u00a0With one simple action we can help ourselves. \u00a0Follow the Light<\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0He will lead you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
