We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. <\/span>
\nSo we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. <\/span>
\nIf someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need <\/span>
\nbut shows no compassion\u2014how can God\u2019s love be in that person? <\/span>
\nDear children, let\u2019s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.<\/span>
\n1 John 3:16-18<\/span><\/p>\n

Love is more than just a warm feeling. \u00a0Love does. \u00a0Loves does many things! \u00a0As I\u2019ve said before<\/a>, \u201cLove says \u2018yes!\u2019 even when faced with impossibilities.\u201d \u00a0David and Jonathan had a love for each other. Jonathan was David’s friend. \u00a0He had sworn his allegiance to David and loyally honored it, because love is faithful.<\/p>\n

Saul now urged his servants and his son Jonathan to assassinate David.
\nBut Jonathan, because of his strong affection for David,
\ntold him what his father was planning.
\n\u201cTomorrow morning,\u201d he warned him, \u201cyou must find a hiding place out in the fields.\u201d
\n1 Samuel 19:1-2<\/p>\n

The king of Israel\u2014his father, Saul\u2014commanded Jonathan to kill David. \u00a0At one point Saul reminds Jonathan that as long as David is alive Jonathan will never be made king. \u00a0Jonathan put his own fame and claim to the throne, as well as royalty and prosperous family life on the line to honor God and his friend. \u00a0Jonathan by birthright had right to the throne, not David the shepherd. \u00a0But his love reflected in his actions and, thus, Jonathan helped David on many occasions.<\/p>\n

Everything he had he was willing to give up for his friend. \u00a0Love does that.<\/span> <\/em>Jonathan sided with what was right, because love can conquer all evil. This one human relationship shows that not only Jesus can love in the same way that God loves. We can. <\/strong><\/em>God\u2019s love is possible<\/strong>!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Lord, help us to love the way You do. \u00a0Not just in our minds, not just in our dreams, not just in our hearts, but in our actions. \u00a0Help love to conquer any fear or obstacles that would hinder us from loving the way You love. \u00a0And show us those people whom You would put in our path for us to love specifically because of their need for Your love.
