\nbut in deed and in truth (in practice and in sincerity).<\/span>
\n1 John 3:18 AMP<\/span><\/h4>\n

This verse always steps on my toes. \u00a0Today\u2019s \u2018me first\u2019 mentality is encouraged and supported by society. \u00a0Yet, John 13:34 (HCSB) instructs us on what Jesus says we are to do:<\/p>\n

\u201cI give you a new command: Love one another.
\nJust as I have loved you, you must also love one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

My struggle with selfishness is a daily battle. \u00a0It is so easy<\/em> to profess love. \u00a0But getting my actions to match my words is where the rubber meets the road. \u00a0Romans 12:9a (HCSB) states \u201cLove must be without hypocrisy.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0OUCH! \u00a0Real love is demonstrated by deeds. \u00a0It requires a deliberate choice. \u00a0That choice doesn\u2019t necessarily have to be monetary. \u00a0Encouragement and support cost nothing, except perhaps a little bit of time. \u00a0Sincere expressions of affection and labors of love show God\u2019s love DOES dwell within us.<\/p>\n

Galatians 5:13 (NLT) says we \u201chave been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don\u2019t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.\u201d \u00a0We have a choice to make\u2014live in bondage to our selfishness or live in freedom by putting our love into action. \u00a0The decision seems to be an easy one but persevering is the real challenge.<\/p>\n

Abba Father, this is a struggle I cannot beat on my on. I truly want Your love to be seen in me by my actions and how I love.
