{"id":24154,"date":"2015-01-30T00:20:22","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T05:20:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=24154"},"modified":"2015-01-30T00:27:59","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T05:27:59","slug":"week-three-jesus-words-faith-matthew-633-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2015\/01\/30\/week-three-jesus-words-faith-matthew-633-34\/","title":{"rendered":"Week Three&#8230;Jesus&#8217; Words on Faith (Matthew 6:33-34)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Therefore do not worry about tomorrow<br \/>\nfor tomorrow will worry about itself. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\">Each day has enough trouble of its own.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #008080;\">Matthew 6:34 NIV<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Jesus&#8217; words&#8230;such the good thing to remember!!! \u00a0He spoke these words along with other instructions as He taught His disciples to not be anxious or filled with worries and fears. \u00a0He directed them to seek God and that God would take good care of them. \u00a0 He was teaching them about having faith.<\/p>\n<p>This is our third week of looking at Jesus&#8217; words on faith here on the <strong><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Seeking Him<\/span> <\/strong>devotional blog. \u00a0Our bloggers, Ahmee, Ann, Cynda, Laura, and Tina, have shared their hearts about concerns for tomorrow, worry, \u00a0and faith. \u00a0Please listen&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>In One Day At a Time,<\/strong><\/em> <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Ann<\/strong> <\/span>encouraged us with the lyrics to a great song!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This Scripture reminded me about a song I know (and I know most of you know it)\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u266b \u266a \u266b<\/span> \u00a0One day at a time, sweet Jesus<br \/>\nThat\u2019s all I am asking from You<br \/>\nHelp me today to do everything that I might do<br \/>\nYesterday is gone, sweet Jesus; and tomorrow may never be mine<br \/>\nSo, for my sake, teach me today, one day at a time \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u266b \u266a \u266b<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is very encouraging. \u00a0As God knows everything we need and so we need to know that He won\u2019t deprive us. \u00a0And the Word says \u201cAnd who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?\u201d (Matthew 6:27).&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Ahmee<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>made a great point about planning in\u00a0<em><strong>Not Worrying Doesn&#8217;t Mean Don&#8217;t Plan:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Worrying often comes from us depending on ourselves instead of the Lord. If we are depending on the Lord in every area of our life, then there is no need for us to worry! \u00a0<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong><em>Planning<\/em><\/strong><\/span>, on the other hand IS something we can do. \u00a0Here\u2019s an example: \u00a0if you know that you make \u201cX\u201d amount of money each week and you have \u201cX\u201d amount of bills to pay each week, then making a budget for the upcoming weeks is not worrying; <em>it\u2019s called <span style=\"color: #008080;\">planning<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Planning<\/span> is essential to our well-being. \u00a0God said in Jeremiah 29:11, \u201cFor I know the <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em><strong>plans<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>I have for you\u2026\u201d \u00a0God thought it was a good idea to have a plan for us; so we, too, should have plans <strong><em>in\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>our lives.<\/p>\n<p>Notice I didn\u2019t say &#8216;<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>plan<\/strong> <\/span>our lives&#8217;\u2026I said, &#8216;<span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>plans IN<\/strong><\/span> our lives.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>Only God can <strong>plan<\/strong> our lives<\/em><\/span>. \u00a0The Bible says, \u201cMany are the plans in a person\u2019s heart, but it is the Lord\u2019s purpose that prevails\u201d (Proverbs 19:21).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Cynda\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">directed us to the importance of <em><strong>Staying In the Presence.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How many times have you heard the phrase &#8216;One day at a time\u2026&#8217;? Hundreds, maybe even thousands? \u00a0It sounds trite but it is exactly what we need to do\u2014take one day at a time. \u00a0But HOW do we do that? \u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">By staying<strong> in His Presence<\/strong><\/span>. <\/em>Philippians 4:6 gives us the best advice and provides step-by-step instructions for staying <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>in His Presence<\/em><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Don\u2019t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.<br \/>\nTell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.<\/p>\n<p>As we begin to thank God for all He has done, it causes us to reflect back on our life. \u00a0Psalm 77:11 (NLT) encourages us to recall what He has done and remember the miracles He has performed in our lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But then I recall all You have done, O Lord;<br \/>\nI remember Your wonderful deeds of long ago.<\/p>\n<p>When we remain <span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>in His Presence<\/em><\/span>, we have no need to worry. \u00a0He knows the plans He has for us\u2026plans that give us hope (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=jeremiah+29.11&amp;version=HCSB\" target=\"_blank\">Jeremiah 29:11<\/a>). \u00a0So let\u2019s stop the worry and enjoy this day<em><span style=\"color: #008080;\"> in His Presence<\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>Laura<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>reminded us in <em><strong>Tomorrow Is Another Day\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>of Scarlett O&#8217;Hara and her penchant to put things off &#8217;til tomorrow. \u00a0Far more importantly Laura also reminded us of this Truth:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.<br \/>\nHebrews 11:1<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For those of us with strong faith in God, we do not have to worry about today or tomorrow. \u00a0God has everything in control. \u00a0We cannot see what tomorrow will bring. \u00a0We do know what will happen tomorrow if we have an appointment or something else scheduled. \u00a0However, we do not know what will happen around those planned parts of our day. We cannot control what will happen during the day. \u00a0<em><strong>Only God can.<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0Through <em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">faith<\/span> <\/em>we know that tomorrow will be there. Through faith, we hope and pray that we will see tomorrow. \u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #008080;\">Faith<\/span> <\/em>gives us the certainty that what we can\u2019t see or touch really does exist. \u00a0Unlike Scarlett, we do have to live in the here and now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">\u2766<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>And in <strong><em>Trust Do Not Worry,<\/em> <span style=\"color: #008080;\">Tina<\/span><\/strong> gave us the example of her parents who were always able to provide for their family&#8230;just like our God does.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dad worked at a saw mill while Mom stayed home. \u00a0She worked part-time at a veterinarian clinic which she truly loved! \u00a0They were poor and worried how to make ends meet. Mom and Dad always were able to provide for us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"passage-display\">Likewise, God provides for us. \u00a0All we have to do is trust Him. \u00a0As our parents provided for us, and we provide for our families, God will provide.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"passage-display\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>All we have to do is ask and trust that God will be there.<\/em>&#8220;<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Therefore do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself.
