In the same way, let your light shine before men,

\nand give glory to your Father in heaven.

Sounds so easy, doesn’t it? \u00a0\u2018Let your light shine<\/span><\/em><\/strong>….\u2019 \u00a0Letting our light shine is complex but can become easier if we consider two simple points regarding light:<\/p>\n

1) What is the source<\/span><\/span>? \u00a0 2) What does it do<\/span><\/em>?<\/h4>\n

Jesus told us He<\/strong> is the source<\/span> <\/span><\/strong>of our light:<\/p>\n

Then Jesus spoke to them again: \u201cI am the light of the world.
\nAnyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.\u201d
\nJohn 8:12(HCSB)<\/p>\n

While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.
\nJohn 9:5 (NASB)<\/p>\n

Jesus is the only Source<\/strong> <\/span>of our light. \u00a0Ephesians 5:8 (NLT) states “For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!” \u00a0His Light shines through us.<\/p>\n

So what does light do<\/span><\/em><\/strong>? \u00a0It expels the darkness. \u00a0It illuminates…and that’s what we are called to do<\/em><\/span><\/span>. \u00a0Others must see the Light of Christ in us before we can share His Light with them.<\/p>\n

Philippians 2:15b (NASB) says we are to be “…children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world…”.<\/p>\n

Charles Spurgeon put it this way:<\/p>\n

“Poor world, poor world, it is dark and gropes in midnight
\nand it cannot get light except it receives it through us.”<\/p>\n

We must not hide His Light. \u00a0If we do, it is of no benefit to anyone but ourselves. \u00a0Jesus intended His Light to shine in us to dispel the darkness of those around us and to illuminate His great love for them. \u00a0We are to be intentional in letting this Light of love shine. \u00a0Otherwise,<\/p>\n

\ndim is the world’s light, and dense its darkness.”

Does the Light of Jesus shine through you or has it been dimmed?<\/h3>\n
