break out in praise and sing for <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span>!<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp,<\/em><br \/>\n<em> with the harp and melodious song, with trumpets and the sound of the ram\u2019s horn.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Make a <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span>ful symphony before the Lord, the King!<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Let the sea and everything in it shout His praise!<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Let the earth and all living things join in.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Let the rivers clap their hands in glee!<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Let the hills sing out their songs of <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span> before the Lord, for He is coming to judge the earth.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with fairness.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong><em> Psalm 98 NLT<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As I was researching this song I came across the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerofchange.org\/blog\/2011\/12\/16\/isaac-watts-joy-to-the-world.html\" target=\"_blank\">following excerpt <\/a>on its history:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe text of <em>Joy to the World<\/em> was originally titled \u201cThe Messiah\u2019s Coming and Kingdom\u201d when it first appeared in Watt\u2019s Psalms of David Imitated of 1719. It was his interpretation of Psalm 98 which read in the King James Bible, \u201cMake a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.\u201d Watts connected the <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span> found in the Psalm to the worship and praise of the coming Messiah. The song was conceived by Watts as a poem celebrating the second and final coming of Jesus but as we know, it has become a precious Christmas carol for the churches. It would not get set in its current musical form until a Jersey born son named Lowell Mason put his musical arrangements to the hymn in 1836.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I find it interesting that this was written about Christ\u2019s<em> second<\/em> Coming but has become a beloved carol celebrating His <em>first<\/em>\u00a0Coming. \u00a0Yet it all ties together neatly, for without the<em> first<\/em>\u00a0Coming there would be <strong>no<\/strong> <em>second<\/em>\u00a0Coming.<\/p>\n<p>As I was reading all of this, God prodded me with a question,<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cHave you prepared room in your heart?\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>My first response was \u201cOf course!\u201d \u00a0I accepted Christ as my Savior as a child. \u00a0But God made it clear He wasn\u2019t talking about that. \u00a0He wanted to know if I had made room in my<em><strong> busyness<\/strong><\/em> for Him. \u00a0Ouch! \u00a0Why is it we become so consumed with the shopping, the gifts, the preparations, and the celebrations we forget the <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span>? \u00a0<span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">Joy<\/span> is found in what Christ has done for us not in what we do to celebrate His birth. \u00a0It is a gladness, an exultation that leads us to rejoice. \u00a0Look at Psalm 92:4 NLT&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">You thrill me, Lord, with all You have done for me!<br \/>\nI sing for <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span> because of what You have done.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what Christmas should be about. \u00a0We should be so thrilled at the reminder of all He has done that we <em>cannot contain our <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">joy<\/span><\/em>!
