God [is] with us&#8221; consists of two Hebrew words: \u05d0\u05b5\u05dc (EL, meaning &#8216;God&#8217;) and \u05e2\u05b4\u05de\u05b8\u05bc\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc (\u02bbImm\u0101n\u016b, meaning &#8216;with us&#8217;). **\u00a0 And this very special name, as Matthew tells us, means &#8220;God with us.&#8221; Jesus Christ is Immanuel, &#8220;<span style=\"color: #a11e24;\"><em>God with us.<\/em><\/span>&#8221; This name was first given by the prophet Isaiah more than 700 years before Jesus\u2019 birth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign:<br \/>\nBehold, the young woman who is unmarried and a virgin shall conceive and bear a son,<br \/>\nand shall call his name Immanuel [God with us].<br \/>\nIsaiah 7:14<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">God\u2019s people trusted and waited for the fulfillment of this promise for a long time.\u00a0 Mary and Joseph, having been raised by parents who believed this promise and taught them about the coming Messiah, also had it in their own hearts.\u00a0 Can you only imagine what stirred in Joseph\u2019s heart as the angel told him,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">&#8230;an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,<br \/>\n\u201cJoseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife,<br \/>\nbecause what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.<br \/>\nShe will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus,<br \/>\nbecause He will save His people from their sins.<br \/>\nAll this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:<br \/>\n\u201cThe virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel\u201d (which means \u201c<em><span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">God with us<\/span><\/em>\u201d).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Matthew 1:20-23<br \/>\n{<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=matthew+1%3A18-25&amp;version=AMP;NIV;NASB\" target=\"_blank\">read the whole passage here<\/a>}<\/p>\n<p>When God sent His Son to &#8216;dwell among us&#8217; it was <em>as if<\/em> God was with us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.<br \/>\nHe was in the beginning with God; and all things were made through Him<br \/>\nand apart from Him nothing was made which was made&#8230;<br \/>\nAnd the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,<br \/>\nglory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth<br \/>\nJohn 1:1-3, 14<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This verse speaks that \u2018<span style=\"color: #a11e24;\"><em>God with us<\/em><\/span>\u2019 to me so clearly!\u00a0 What an incredible plan Almighty God had from the beginning to rescue and redeem us\u2014to save us by sending His Son to live among us.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus always gave honor and glory to His Father&#8230;never placing it upon Himself (even when others tried to).\u00a0 I am sure His example constantly showed His disciples that He always did His Father&#8217;s will&#8230;and that they should do so also.<\/p>\n<p>Even towards the end He faithfully and lovingly prepared and comforted their hearts. During the Last Supper, when He was alone with just those closest to Him, Jesus told them many times and in many ways that He no longer would be with them BUT they would not be alone&#8230;He would send the Paraclete&#8212;the Comforter, the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 And reminded them again and again how He had been <em><span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">Emmanuel\u2014God with {them}<\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Jesus said to him, \u201cI am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.\u00a0 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.\u201d\u00a0 Philip said to Him, \u201cLord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.\u201d\u00a0 Jesus said to him, \u201cHave I been with you so long, and you still do not know Me, Philip? Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, \u2018Show us the Father\u2019?\u00a0 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own authority, but the Father who dwells in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.\u00a0 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My Name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My Name, I will do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">John 14:6-14<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">* \u00a0\u00a0\u2665 \u00a0~ \u00a0\u271d \u00a0~ \u00a0\u2605\u00a0 \u00a0 *<\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">What a loving Lord and Savior!\u00a0 He came to be <span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">Immanuel ~ God with us<\/span>.\u00a0 In this one name, everything mankind has ever needed\u2014and still needs!\u2014was brought to earth.\u00a0\u00a0 God\u2019s promise of salvation was fulfilled in His Gift of Jesus.\u00a0 How blessed we are that it was His plan for Jesus to become Immanuel\u2014<span style=\"color: #a11e24;\">God with us<\/span>.
