Be still, and know that I am God!

Work. \u00a0Children. \u00a0Family. \u00a0Friends. \u00a0Hobbies. \u00a0Commitments. \u00a0Life!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Peace<\/span> can seem especially evasive during the holiday season. \u00a0Peace<\/span> can also<\/strong> be evasive during the rest of the year. \u00a0And not because it just doesn’t want to be with us but because sometimes we can forget that we are supposed to be<\/em> at peace<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, I feel far more accomplished when I’m busy\u2014running around trying to figure out the next thing to do. \u00a0Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed by so much stuff. Other times I enjoy doing nothing, but also feel as if I’m not getting anywhere in life.<\/p>\n

When I think of being at peace<\/span> in God’s peace<\/span>, I think of this verse. \u00a0Be still.<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0This verse is not talking about physical stillness, although, sometimes physical stillness is very necessary.\u00a0\u00a0No, this verse is talking about being still on the inside<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0I personally feel this verse could say, “Be at peace (on the inside), and know that I am God…” I say this because, it’s almost impossible to be still<\/em> when you are not at peace<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n

So, why do I so often find myself running around trying to figure everything out, totally out of sorts, and frustrated? \u00a0Because I forget to rely on the Maker. \u00a0God is always there to help us. \u00a0He provided us with peace<\/span> and the ability to abide in that peace<\/span>. Jesus said,<\/p>\n

Peace<\/span> I leave with you; my peace<\/span> I give you.
\nI do not give to you as the world gives.
\nDo not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
\nJohn 14:27<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Take a step back from the busyness of life.<\/li>\n
  • Take a step back from those looming important decisions.<\/li>\n
  • Take a step back and just be still.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Rest.
    \nBe at peace.
    \nThen ask the Lord what’s next so that you can tackle all you need to
