For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given;
\nand the government shall be upon His shoulder,
\nand His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor,
\nMighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace<\/em><\/span>.
\nIsaiah 9:6 AMP<\/p>\n

Glory to God in the highest [heaven],
\nand on earth peace<\/span> <\/em>among men
\nwith whom He is well pleased [men of goodwill, of His favor].
\nLuke 2:14 AMP<\/p>\n

Peace<\/span> <\/strong>can be very elusive this time of year. \u00a0In some ways this has been a rough year for us\u2014we lost our darling granddaughter five days after her birth. \u00a0This time of year is particularly hard. \u00a0Perhaps you, too, have suffered the death of a loved one or a major loss…loss of a relationship, job, home.<\/p>\n

Maybe stress is stealing your peace<\/span> <\/strong>right now. \u00a0{I must admit I have let a little stress sneak in as well.} \u00a0Our daughters live in other states so we don\u2019t get to spend as much time with them as we would like. \u00a0However, they will be coming here after Christmas. \u00a0I want to have the perfect gifts for them. \u00a0I want to make wonderful memories while they are here. \u00a0And that gets me a little<\/em> frantic and a bit stressed out. When the cares of this world weigh me down Romans 8:6 reminds me that,<\/p>\n

For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace<\/span><\/em>…<\/p>\n

So, how do we have this peace<\/strong> <\/span>that seems so elusive? \u00a0The peace<\/strong> <\/span>Romans 8:6 refers to comes only from Christ and passes all understanding. \u00a0There are so many wonderful scriptures that reiterate this. \u00a0Take a minute to read through these slowly and carefully. \u00a0And let their meaning sink deep into your heart and mind.<\/p>\n

In peace<\/span><\/em> I will both lie down and sleep,
\nFor You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.
\nPsalm 4:8 NASB<\/p>\n

The Lord gives His people strength; the Lord blesses His people with peace<\/span><\/em>.
\nPsalm 29:11 HCSB<\/p>\n

You will keep the mind that is dependent on You in perfect peace<\/em><\/span>…
\nIsaiah 26:3 HCSB<\/p>\n

…The chastisement {punishment} [needful to obtain] peace<\/em> <\/span>
\nand well-being for us was upon Him,
\nand with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
\nIsaiah 53:5b AMP<\/p>\n

\u201cI am leaving you with a gift\u2014peace<\/span> <\/em>of mind and heart.
\nAnd the peace<\/span> <\/em>I give is a gift the world cannot give.
\nSo don\u2019t be troubled or afraid.\u201d
\nJohn 14:27 NLT<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In John 16:33 (HCSB) Jesus tells us \u201cI have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace<\/strong><\/span>. \u00a0You will have suffering in this world. \u00a0Be courageous! \u00a0I have conquered the world.\u201d \u00a0As I was writing this, the words of a Castings Crowns song came to mind \u2013 \u201cIt\u2019s all because of the blood of Jesus Christ!<\/em>\u201d \u00a0Truth! \u00a0We cannot do it alone.<\/p>\n

Christ IS our Prince of Peace<\/span><\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0His birth was a step towards peace<\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0He came voluntarily, knowing what lay ahead of Him. \u00a0I do not want to be guilty of rejecting His gift that cost so much.<\/p>\n

Today, I would like to leave you with Philippians 4:7 as my prayer because God puts it much more eloquently than I can.<\/p>\n

Dear Lord, please let Your peace<\/strong><\/span>, which surpasses all comprehension, guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus. \u00a0Amen \u2013 It Is So!<\/p>\n
