{"id":23050,"date":"2014-11-28T00:20:26","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T05:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=23050"},"modified":"2014-11-27T22:32:05","modified_gmt":"2014-11-28T03:32:05","slug":"week-hebrews-1315","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2014\/11\/28\/week-hebrews-1315\/","title":{"rendered":"This Week&#8230;Hebrews 13:15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/seekingHimthanksgivinggraphic.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22736\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/seekingHimthanksgivinggraphic.jpg\" alt=\"seekingHimthanksgivinggraphic\" width=\"560\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/seekingHimthanksgivinggraphic.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/seekingHimthanksgivinggraphic-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times<br \/>\noffer up to God a sacrifice of praise,<br \/>\nwhich is the fruit of lips<br \/>\nthat thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.<br \/>\nHebrews 13:15<\/p>\n<p>Oh, what encouragement I have received this week as I\u2019ve read daily through the <em><span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">Seeking Him<\/span><\/em> devotional! \u00a0(You, too?) \u00a0Ann, Ahmee, Clella, Cynda, and Tina have each written devotionals reminding me of the importance of offering my praise&#8212;a sacrifice of praise&#8212;to our wonderful Father God and drawing me closer to the One Who I do seek to praise and glorify!<\/p>\n<p>In <em><strong>The Fruit Of Lips<\/strong><\/em>,<span style=\"color: #c4540a;\"> Cynda<\/span> took a good in-depth look at just what a \u2018sacrifice of praise\u2019 is and also asked a really good question&#8230;along with a few answers she found.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut why are we compelled (Hebrews 13:15) to do it \u2018constantly and at all times\u2019? \u00a0Here are just a few of the reasons I found:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>it glorifies God and pleases Him<\/li>\n<li>(because of) His enduring love and goodness<\/li>\n<li>because Jesus did<\/li>\n<li>it is our shared inheritance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But, I think my <em>favorite reason<\/em> for giving thanks is to <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\"><em>tell others and remind myself of all He has done in my life.<span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">~ \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">\u2665 \u00a0<\/span> ~<\/h3>\n<p>Then, <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">Ann<\/span> gave us some great reasons in <em><strong>Praise At All Times<\/strong><\/em> just WHY we praise God&#8212;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>for what He has done (Psalm 9:11)<\/li>\n<li>a four-fold reason\u2014 because we are \u201c&#8230;a chosen people, a loyal priesthood, a holy nation,\u00a0a people belonging to God&#8230;.\u201d (1 Peter 2:9)<\/li>\n<li>and, as a commandment (Psalm 63:7)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>She wrote, \u201cSo we are all to praise God; let us make a choice of doing so in the morning \u2026in the afternoon \u2026and in the evening time!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">~ \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">\u2665 \u00a0<\/span> ~<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">Clella<\/span> shared a wonderful translation of Hebrews 13:15 with us in <em><strong>Proclaim Allegiance To His Name. \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>She wrote,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The New Living Translation says it this way:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God,<br \/>\nproclaiming our allegiance to His Name.<\/p>\n<p>The phase &#8216;<em>proclaiming our allegiance to His Na<\/em>me&#8217; popped out at me. \u00a0It sounded so different than the other translations that refer to &#8216;the fruit of lips that confess His Name.&#8217; \u00a0I just had to do a little research to understand what this verse is really saying.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; to \u201c<em>confess<\/em>\u201d God\u2019s Name is to declare, state, acknowledge His Name<br \/>\n&#8211; to \u201c<em>proclaim allegiance<\/em>\u201d is to announce publicly, or to declare something one considers important with due emphasis, which in this case would be one\u2019s loyalty or commitment of a subordinate to a superior.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">~ \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">\u2665 \u00a0<\/span> ~<\/h3>\n<p>In <strong><em>Verbal Sacrifice<\/em><\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">Ahmee<\/span> brought us back to the central element in Hebrews 13:15 of \u2018sacrifice.\u2019 \u00a0She reminded us of reasons we have to offer our sacrifice of praise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose days when you don\u2019t feel like giving praise are the days when praise is a sacrifice. When we praise God even in our less-than-favorable moments we are saying to Him \u2014 and those around us \u2014<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God is our God<\/li>\n<li>we trust Him with our lives<\/li>\n<li>we trust in Someone bigger than us<\/li>\n<li>we have the Almighty on our side to fight for us\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">~ \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">\u2665 \u00a0<\/span> ~<\/h3>\n<p>And<span style=\"color: #c4540a;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong><em>in<\/em> Giving Thanks<\/strong><\/em> <\/span>Tina<\/span> encouraged us to remember how abundantly blessed we are here in the USA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Pilgrims were so grateful to have a land to call their own and the freedom to worship God. After such a hard crossing and a hard harvest, they decided to celebrate and praise God for what they had. Let us do the same. Continuous praise should be on our lips and in our thoughts.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">~ \u00a0 <span style=\"color: #c4540a;\">\u2665 \u00a0<\/span> ~<\/h3>\n<p>So after being encouraged and admonished this week reading these devotionals each day, I am determined to be thankful to God not only on Thanksgiving Day but the next day&#8230;each day. We are to be thankful, joyful people today, tomorrow, and every day!
