{"id":22431,"date":"2014-10-22T00:20:43","date_gmt":"2014-10-22T04:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=22431"},"modified":"2014-10-21T19:17:41","modified_gmt":"2014-10-21T23:17:41","slug":"slow-anger-quick-love","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2014\/10\/22\/slow-anger-quick-love\/","title":{"rendered":"Slow to Anger&#8230;Quick to Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Lord is compassionate and gracious,<br \/>\nslow to anger, abounding in love.<br \/>\nHe will not always accuse,<br \/>\nnor will He harbor His anger forever;<br \/>\nHe does not treat us as our sins deserve<br \/>\nor repay us according to our iniquities.<br \/>\nPsalms 103:8-10<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As a parent, I often find it hard not to grow angry or frustrated when my kids do something (or keep doing something) after I or their father have instructed them <em>not to keep doing<\/em> whatever they are doing. \u00a0I love my kids. \u00a0I love them to the moon and back. \u00a0I am usually slow to anger. \u00a0However, after a stressful day, I find that I am quicker to be angry than usual. \u00a0That is all part of being human.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Know this, my beloved brothers:<br \/>\nlet every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;<br \/>\nfor the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.<br \/>\nJames 1:19-20<\/p>\n<p>God is the perfect example of what a loving parent should be. \u00a0He is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>quick to hear and patiently listens to our requests and confessions<\/li>\n<li>careful in His answers to our prayers<\/li>\n<li>patient, loving, and kind<\/li>\n<li>puts up with a lot from us, but yet He still loves us<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We, as humans, are not in any way getting the punishment or rejection that we deserve. \u00a0Many of us have rejected our heavenly Father, but He still does not punish or reject us. \u00a0He loves us in a way that we will probably never understand. Thanks to Jesus we will not receive the punishment that we deserve for sinning against God.<\/p>\n<p>God does not harbor His anger His children. \u00a0He does not hold a grudge\u2014like so many people do. \u00a0He does not hold our sins against us. \u00a0Instead, God forgives us and loves us. \u00a0He welcomes us back with open arms and helps us learn from our mistakes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"> \u00a0 * \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 \u271e \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 \u2665 \u00a0 ~ \u00a0 * <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for being slow to anger and always loving. We are so thankful that You do not hold a grudge against us. Your love is wonderful and compassionate. Because You love us so much, we do not have to worry about the wrathful punishment that awaits those who have rejected You.
