The sacrifice pleasing to God is a broken spirit. God, You will not despise a broken and humbled heart.
\nPsalm 51:17<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Brokenness<\/em> – stricken, wounded, dismayed, to be grieved, to make sad<\/h3>\n

In Psalms 51:15-17<\/a>, David is consumed with guilt. \u00a0He is in anguish and would do almost anything<\/em> to escape from it. \u00a0What God really<\/em> <\/strong>desires from David (and from us!) is only that we are truly broken over our sin. \u00a0David would have offered sacrifices. Sometimes we try to take the easy way. \u00a0We try to negotiate with God\u2014offer a sacrifice of sorts. \u00a0But God looks at the heart. \u00a0He looks for true repentance, a deep sorrow. \u00a0God wants a heart pliable to His Word, one that trembles at His Word, tender and obedient. \u00a0In other words, God seeks a broken and contrite heart. \u00a0Man may despise what is broken but God does not. \u00a0Instead, He looks with favor upon a broken and humble attitude.<\/p>\n

But this is the man to whom I will look and have regard: he who is humble
\nand of a broken or wounded spirit, and who trembles at My word and reveres My commands.
\nIsaiah 66:2b AMP<\/p>\n

God chooses to dwell among the humble because they have a reverent attitude. All of our wrong doing comes to a climax at the foot of the Throne. \u00a0Our faith and repentance glorify God.<\/p>\n

The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart
\nand saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin
\nand are humbly and thoroughly penitent.
\nPsalm 34:18 AMP<\/p>\n

Brokenness<\/em>\u2014<\/strong>to be stricken, wounded, grieved by our sin\u2014that is what God desires.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
