This recipe is vegan and dairy-free (along with being intrinsically gluten free, soy free). Her secret ingredient? \u201c<strong>Nutritional yeast<\/strong>.\u201d Yup! Don\u2019t knock it \u2018til you try it! (Oh, speaking of trying it&#8230;dust your freshly popped popcorn with it!) Enjoy!<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Pesto<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ingredients<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\n1\/4 cup walnuts<a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/2014-08-10-17.47.41.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-21199\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/2014-08-10-17.47.41-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"2014-08-10 17.47.41\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/2014-08-10-17.47.41-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/2014-08-10-17.47.41-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n1\/2-1 tablespoon finely minced garlic (she uses jarred garlic, like her momma!)<br \/>\n2 cups fresh baby spinach<br \/>\n1 cup fresh basil (leaves only!)<br \/>\n1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes<br \/>\n1 tablespoon lemon juice<br \/>\n1\/4 cup+\/- extra virgin olive oil<br \/>\nsea salt, freshly ground black pepper (to taste)<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">directions<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in a food processor, process the walnuts and garlic until minced<\/li>\n<li>add the spinach, basil, nutritional yeast and lemon juice; process by pulsing until spinach is finely ground<\/li>\n<li>with food processor running, s-l-o-w-l-y pour the oil down the food chute \u2018til all is well incorporated<\/li>\n<li>season with salt and pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<li>this will make approximately 3\/4 cup (about 12 tablespoons) of pesto.
