Blessed are those whose ways are blameless,
\nwho walk according to the law of the LORD.
\nBlessed are those who keep His statutes
\nand seek Him with all their heart\u2014
\nthey do no wrong
\nbut follow His ways.
\nYou have laid down precepts
\nthat are to be fully obeyed.
\nOh, that my ways were steadfast
\nin obeying Your decrees!
\nPsalms 119:1-5<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I remember growing up and receiving praise from a parent or teacher…that is one of the best feelings out there! \u00a0I see the delight in my children\u2019s eyes when I thank them for listening, and when I let them know how much I appreciate their good behavior. \u00a0Even as adults we enjoy hearing\u00a0\u201cWay to go!\u201d when we are recognized for doing well. \u00a0This is what God is doing here. \u00a0He is praising those who are blameless, those who follow His direction, and those that obey. \u00a0Now, He isn\u2019t condemning those who may not be doing these things. \u00a0This is a sign of His unconditional love! \u00a0This verse wasn\u2019t followed by a reprimand; it is a special message to those who are intentional in following Him, intentional in their obedience.<\/p>\n

David ends this particular passage with these words:<\/p>\n

You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed.
\nOh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!<\/p>\n

David is stating his intentions\u2014his desire to be obedient. \u00a0God didn\u2019t simply tell us to listen to Him. \u00a0He has given us detailed instructions on living life. \u00a0He gave us an entire \u2018how-to\u2019 book, a manual for life.<\/p>\n

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your instructions, for the \u2018how-to\u2019 guide that You have made available to us.
