{"id":20394,"date":"2014-06-27T00:30:58","date_gmt":"2014-06-27T04:30:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=20394"},"modified":"2014-06-26T23:32:07","modified_gmt":"2014-06-27T03:32:07","slug":"popsicles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2014\/06\/27\/popsicles\/","title":{"rendered":"Popsicles!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/apple-popsicle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-20418\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/apple-popsicle-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"apple popsicle\" width=\"460\" height=\"345\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/apple-popsicle-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/apple-popsicle-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I guess this is less of a recipe, and more of an exhortation: \u00a0You should be making your own popsicles this summer! \u00a0My mom made these <strong>Popsicles<\/strong> for us when we were kids, and now my girls are helping me make them, and loving the results.<\/p>\n<p>The most basic thing you can do is just freeze apple juice. \u00a0That&#8217;s it! \u00a0My girls like pieces of fruit in their popsicles, too. \u00a0The first run was halved cherries frozen in the apple juice, and the next batch was chopped strawberries. \u00a0You can do just about anything: \u00a0concord grape juice, lemonade, pureed watermelon! \u00a0Nearly any fruit you like can be added in&#8212;just make sure you chop it into small bits, and kind of stir it around with the juice to make sure you don&#8217;t have a just a big clump of fruit in the middle.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s even better than popsicles? \u00a0Jell-o Pudding Pops! \u00a0These are just like the ones I&#8217;d eat as a kid, when they still sold them in stores (remember <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QVIoBoFkoiM\">this<\/a>\u00a0commercial?) \u00a0They&#8217;re easy and so good.<\/p>\n<p>My popsicle set is this one:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/zoku-mini-pops.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-20396\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/zoku-mini-pops-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"zoku mini pops\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/zoku-mini-pops-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/zoku-mini-pops-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/zoku-mini-pops.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I like the small size for my little girls. \u00a0You can also use it to make cake pops, but I haven&#8217;t done that (yet?). \u00a0Check online or in housewares stores to find the popsicle molds best for your family. \u00a0Let&#8217;s get freezing!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Apple Strawberry Popsicles<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Makes 9 mini popsicles<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 cup minced fresh strawberries<\/li>\n<li>1 cup apple juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Make sure popsicle mold is clean! \u00a0Chop strawberries and put a teaspoon of fruit in each mold. \u00a0Fill the mold to the line with apple juice and stir to distribute fruit. \u00a0Insert sticks into popsicles.<\/li>\n<li>Freeze for 6 hours. \u00a0Pop out of the molds and watch your kids&#8217; faces light up!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Jell-O Pudding Pops<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 small package Instant Jell-O Pudding (go for the chocolate!)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups milk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Quickly whisk together pudding mix and milk. \u00a0Spoon into molds and insert sticks.<\/li>\n<li>Freeze. \u00a0Eat. \u00a0Watch reruns of The Cosby Show!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><br class=\"Apple-interchange-newline\" \/>Explore, experiment, enjoy!<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Dana<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>To view even more of Dana\u2019s unique recipe, you can visit her at\u00a0<a style=\"color: #336699;\" href=\"http:\/\/frugalgirlmet.blogspot.com\/\">Frugal Girlmet<\/a>!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I guess this is less of a recipe, and more of an exhortation: \u00a0You should be making your own popsicles this summer! \u00a0My mom made these Popsicles for us when we were kids, and now my girls are helping me make them, and loving the results.
