It is also a time to consider what Jesus said and did; and how we should be living in light of His Words. \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p>\n<p>During this season, here on the\u00a0<strong><em>Seeking Him<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0devotional blog, we have chosen to focus our devotionals on Jesus\u2019 instructions and admonition communicated in Matthew chapter 5\u2014the Beatitudes. \u00a0Jesus said, \u201cBlessed are\u2026\u201d and He went on to give instruction as to how to be \u201c<em>blessed<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0To be \u2018blessed\u2019 is to \u2018be happy, or to be envied.\u2019 \u00a0 Truly for the Christian, we ARE blessed\u2014oh, how very blessed we are! \u00a0Those who observe our lives should clearly be able to tell that we ARE blessed\u2014and that we KNOW it! \u271e \u2665<\/p>\n<p>Please consider Jesus\u2019 instructions along with us. \u00a0We pray that our words will encourage you and spur you on to be prepare your hearts for the joyous celebration of His Resurrection! \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #389da8;\"><strong>God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #389da8;\"><strong>for they will be satisfied.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #389da8;\"><strong>Matthew 5:6<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Every year for the past eleven years I have filled out a survey at my children\u2019s annual physical checkup. \u00a0From ages 2-6, I am required to ask them the question, \u201cWhat do you do when you\u2019re hungry?\u201d \u00a0Of course they respond with \u201cEat,\u201d or \u201cAsk for food,\u201d things such as that. \u00a0I\u2019ve always wondered why this question is asked&#8230;why such a common inquiry is made; even small children know what to do and how to respond. \u00a0But there must be a reason that each year we are reminded to quiz our children on such a simple thing, something we see as common and natural.<\/p>\n<p>When I read this Scripture, I thought of this scenario. \u00a0We know we\u2019re supposed to seek God and do as He commands and instructs; doing this leads to righteousness. \u00a0In a sense it is <strong><span style=\"color: #389da8;\">biblical common sense<\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0We hunger for God\u2019s Word and for His guidance and love. and when we hunger, when we strive, we find righteousness. \u00a0Just as the pediatrician reminds us to look closely at common things, so does Christ. \u00a0Sometimes we become so engulfed in our life that we forget to consciously thirst for Christ and to be hungry for His word, His direction. \u00a0So He has given us reminders, such as these verses, to look at and to remind us. \u00a0This is more than an answer on a piece of paper. \u00a0It is a reminder that when we seek Him and when we thirst for him, He will fill us. \u00a0When we seek&#8230;we will find. \u00a0When we thirst&#8230;we will be filled. \u00a0Common sense, yes; but the reminders are much needed, much desired.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.<br \/>\nMatthew 7:7<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">He has filled the hungry with good things,<br \/>\nAnd the rich He has sent away empty<br \/>\nLuke 1:53<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Let\u2019s Pray<\/span>:<br \/>\nDear Heavenly Father, there are times we forget common things, like what to do when we\u2019re hungry. \u00a0Like the pediatrician, You remind us of what we sometimes forget to see\u2014that our thirst for You will lead to righteousness and that we will be filled when we hunger and thirst for Your Word. \u00a0Lord, remind us to seek You daily. \u00a0And to thirst for You always. \u00a0Increase our desire to be filled, so that we will not forget the common things, so that we will not forget to seek, and ask, to find and to hunger. \u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name we pray, Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; We have now entered the season of Lent. \u00a0For many Christians, Lent is taken as a time of preparation for the celebration of Easter where God miraculously redeemed mankind by resurrecting His Son from the dead.
