We have now entered the season of Lent. \u00a0For many Christians, Lent is taken as a time of preparation for the celebration of Easter where God miraculously redeemed mankind by resurrecting His Son from the dead. It is also a time to consider what Jesus said and did; and how we should be living in light of His Words. \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p>\n

During this season, here on the\u00a0Seeking Him<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0devotional blog, we have chosen to focus our devotionals on Jesus\u2019 instructions and admonition communicated in Matthew chapter 5\u2014the Beatitudes. \u00a0Jesus said, \u201cBlessed are\u2026\u201d and He went on to give instruction as to how to be \u201cblessed<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0To be \u2018blessed\u2019 is to \u2018be happy, or to be envied.\u2019 \u00a0 Truly for the Christian, we ARE blessed\u2014oh, how very blessed we are! \u00a0Those who observe our lives should clearly be able to tell that we ARE blessed\u2014and that we KNOW it! \u271e \u2665<\/p>\n

Please consider Jesus\u2019 instructions along with us. \u00a0We pray that our words will encourage you and spur you on to be prepare your hearts for the joyous celebration of His Resurrection! \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,\u00a0<\/strong>
\nfor they will be satisfied.\u00a0<\/strong>
\nMatthew 5:6<\/strong><\/p>\n

As children we hunger to learn what is right and what is wrong. \u00a0We are supposed to learn this from our loving parents\u2014the ones that God has blessed us with. \u00a0From a young age when we start to learn between right and wrong, we hunger and thirst to do right so as to please those around us. \u00a0As children of God, we should do the same. \u00a0We should hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God.<\/p>\n

The Samaritan woman said to Him, \u201cYou are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?\u201d (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, \u201cIf you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.\u201d \u201cSir,\u201d the woman said, \u201cyou have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?\u201d Jesus answered, \u201cEveryone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.\u201d The woman said to him, \u201cSir, give me this water so that I won\u2019t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Christians, we have a hunger and thirst for a relationship with God. \u00a0Once we accept Christ, we begin that relationship. \u00a0Even before the Samaritan woman received Christ, she thirsted for the righteousness of God. \u00a0The Samaritan woman was already thirsting for Jesus before she even met and spoke with Him. \u00a0When she asked for the living water, Jesus told her everything about herself. He already knew her. \u00a0She ran back to tell the people who shunned her. \u00a0That day many became children of God. \u00a0Even though she had sinned, Jesus blessed her.<\/p>\n

As the children of God we, like the Samaritan woman, have sinned. \u00a0However, if we want to be in a relationship with Jesus, our spiritual thirst and hunger can be satisfied by accepting Him. \u00a0All we have to do is believe that He died on the Cross for us and rose three days later to defeat death and sin.<\/p>\n
