\u00a0Surely amongst the first things that spring to mind would be how very <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span> is our loving Heavenly Father. \u00a0The Scriptures tell us in many places about His<span style=\"color: #800080;\"> compassion<\/span> toward mankind. \u00a0In fact, as part of a word study in the Bible on this attribute of God\u2019s nature\u2014<span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span>\u2014I found (literally) over 125 individual Scriptures that talk about God\u2019s <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span>&#8230;His being <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span>&#8230;His having <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>Compassion<\/em> <\/span>is a defining characteristic of Who Almighty God is! \u00a0For example, in this record (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=nehemiah%209&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\">Nehemiah 9<\/a>), God\u2019s compassion is spoken of seven separate times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But You are a God of forgiveness, gracious and <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span>,<br \/>\nSlow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness;<br \/>\nAnd You did not forsake them.<br \/>\nNehemiah 9:17<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yes, our God is <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span>.<br \/>\nPsalm 116:5<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Lord is good to all; He has <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span> on all He has made.<br \/>\nPsalm 145:9<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,<br \/>\nAnd therefore He waits on high to have <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span> on you.<br \/>\nFor the Lord is a God of justice;<br \/>\nHow blessed are all those who long for Him.<br \/>\nIsaiah 30:18<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation: It is because of the Lord\u2019s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassions<\/span> fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness. The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him. It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Lamentations 3:21-26<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>And, to be assured, there is record after record after record in the Gospel accounts of Jesus and the loving <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span> He had for those around Him.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Moved with <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span>, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him,<br \/>\nand said to him, \u201cI am willing; be cleansed.\u201d<br \/>\nMark 1:41<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And when the Lord saw her, he had <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span> on her and said to her, \u201cDo not weep.\u201d<br \/>\nLuke 7:13<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We, too, are to live the same. \u00a0As the words of this beautiful hymn express, \u201cEach day we live an offering of praise as we show to the world Your <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span>.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Be kind and <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span> to one another, forgiving each other,<br \/>\njust as in Christ God forgave you.<br \/>\nEphesians 4:32<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Put on then, as God&#8217;s chosen ones, holy and beloved,<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span> hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience&#8230;.<br \/>\nColossians 3:12<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic,<br \/>\nlove one another, be <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassionate<\/span> and humble.<br \/>\n1 Peter 3:8<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But if anyone has this world\u2019s goods and sees his brother and fellow believer in need,<br \/>\nyet closes his heart of <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span> against him,<br \/>\nhow can the love of God live and remain in him?<br \/>\n1 John 3:17<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>May we each today reach out to those around us&#8230;loved ones, strangers, the untouchable, the harsh and critical, those who persecute us, who do not understand us, the hurting and the hurters&#8230;with this <em><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span> <\/strong><\/em>that is ours to freely give by God\u2019s grace. \u00a0May we be Christ\u2019s love to them&#8230;and show them the love, grace, mercy, <span style=\"color: #800080;\">compassion<\/span>, forgiveness given at the Cross.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is an everlasting kindness You lavished on us When the Radiance of heaven Came to rescue the lost; You called the sheep without a shepherd To leave their distress For your streams of forgiveness And the shade of Your rest.
