\"SeekingHimLogo\"<\/a>We have now entered the season of Lent. \u00a0For many Christians, Lent is taken as a time of preparation for the celebration of Easter where God miraculously redeemed mankind by resurrecting His Son from the dead. It is also a time to consider what Jesus said and did; and how we should be living in light of His Words. \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p>\n

During this season, here on the\u00a0Seeking Him<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0devotional blog, we have chosen to focus our devotionals on Jesus\u2019 instructions and admonition communicated in Matthew chapter 6\u2014the Beatitudes. \u00a0Jesus said, \u201cBlessed are\u2026\u201d and He went on to give instruction as to how to be \u201cblessed<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0To be \u2018blessed\u2019 is to \u2018be happy, or to be envied.\u2019 \u00a0Truly for the Christian, we ARE blessed\u2014oh, how very blessed we are! \u00a0Those who observe our lives should clearly be able to tell that we ARE blessed\u2014and that we KNOW it! \u271e \u2665<\/p>\n

Please consider Jesus\u2019 instructions along with us. \u00a0We pray that our words will encourage you and spur you on to be prepare your hearts for the joyous celebration of His Resurrection! \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. <\/strong><\/span>
\nMatthew 5:3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In the same sense that we can be rich in many areas\u2014money, family, friends, love, etc.\u2014we can also be poor<\/span><\/em> in other areas of our life aside from finances. \u00a0I think for people who strive for excellence, the terms poor<\/em><\/span><\/strong> and weak<\/em> <\/span><\/strong>are not words we take lightly or accept willingly. \u00a0When in reality they are not as negative as we think. When we are poor in spirit<\/em><\/span> we are fully dependent on God. \u00a0Now this doesn\u2019t mean that we need to be at the lowest place in our life or depressed or unhappy but it does mean that we acknowledge that without God we have nothing.<\/p>\n

And He said to me, \u201cMy grace is sufficient for you,
\nfor My strength is made perfect in weakness<\/em><\/span>.\u201d
\nTherefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities,
\nthat the power of Christ may rest upon me.
\n2 Corinthians 12:9<\/p>\n

When we say we\u2019re weak<\/em><\/span>, it doesn\u2019t mean that we can\u2019t handle where our lives may be or that we can\u2019t deal with what we currently have on our plate. \u00a0What it does mean is that we are able to acknowledge that without God…we have no strength; because He is our strength, and in our weakness <\/span>and dependence on Him…His strength prevails<\/em>.<\/p>\n

How wonderful is it to know and accept that we can be weak<\/em><\/span>? \u00a0That we can be poor<\/em> <\/span>and still be covered by His love? \u00a0That we can be these things and be carried by our Heavenly Father? \u00a0That we don\u2019t have to worry about our own strength and love carrying us through life because His strength and His love are far more than we need<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s Pray<\/strong><\/span>: \u00a0Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to accept our weakness, our poor spirits, because when we accept these, Lord, we embrace Your Strength instead of trying to grow our own. \u00a0And when we accept Your rich love, instead of our own, we will experience a freedom like no other. \u00a0Thank You Lord for Your loving strength. \u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
