We have now entered the season of Lent. \u00a0For many Christians, Lent is taken as a time of preparation for the celebration of Easter where God miraculously redeemed mankind by resurrecting His Son from the dead. It is also a time to consider what Jesus said and did; and how we should be living in light of His Words. \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p>\n

During this season, here on the\u00a0Seeking Him<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0devotional blog, we have chosen to focus our devotionals on Jesus\u2019 instructions and admonition communicated in Matthew chapter 6\u2014the Beatitudes. \u00a0Jesus said, \u201cBlessed are\u2026\u201d and He went on to give instruction as to how to be \u201cblessed<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0To be \u2018blessed\u2019 is to \u2018be happy, or to be envied.\u2019 \u00a0Truly for the Christian, we ARE blessed\u2014oh, how very blessed we are! \u00a0Those who observe our lives should clearly be able to tell that we ARE blessed\u2014and that we KNOW it! \u271e \u2665<\/p>\n

Please consider Jesus\u2019 instructions along with us. \u00a0We pray that our words will encourage you and spur you on to be prepare your hearts for the joyous celebration of His Resurrection! \u00a0\u271e \u2665<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. <\/span><\/strong>
\nMatthew 5:3<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

My daughter is full of spirit. \u00a0Nattie is a pistol. \u00a0She chases after lights during cosmic bowling. \u00a0She jumps on the trampoline. \u00a0She jabbers at 90 miles a minute. \u00a0I can understand her almost 80% of the time. \u00a0She runs around the house like she is running a race. \u00a0Plus<\/em>, she has a temper to match. \u00a0Needless to say, at the age of three, my Nattie Grace is a very spirited child. \u00a0But, like all children, she still needs me, and she knows how to get my attention. \u00a0She grabs my hand and pulls me to where she wants me, or she tells me to stop what I am doing because she wants something.<\/p>\n

Yet, remembering that she is only three, I also know that she is poor in spirit because she does not have the ability to understand who Jesus Christ is. \u00a0As children of God, we should be like our own children—looking to God like children do their parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cAllow the children to come to me,” Jesus said.
\n“Don’t forbid them, because the Kingdom of Heaven
\nbelongs to people like these children.”
\nMatthew 19:14<\/p>\n

As the children of God, we should also act like children looking for the love and protection of their heavenly Father. \u00a0We should humble ourselves before the Lord and seek Him as a child does their parents. \u00a0We are instructed to act as children seeking their father. \u00a0This is because that is what we were created to do. \u00a0We were created to be the children of God and to continually seek His Presence.<\/p>\n

If we become like children and constantly seek God, we will be rewarded as the children of God. \u00a0We will live in the Kingdom of Heaven with God for eternity. \u00a0We must humble ourselves and tear ourselves from earthly desires. \u00a0As the children of God, we should constantly be seeking Him, His riches, and His glory.<\/p>\n

Dear Heavenly Father: \u00a0As we enter the season of Easter, please help us remember that Jesus died for us so we could be like children and constantly seek You. \u00a0Thank You for the sacrifice. \u00a0It is with this sacrifice that we can live with hope to see You. \u00a0In Jesus\u2019 name, Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
