{"id":17822,"date":"2014-02-15T00:05:44","date_gmt":"2014-02-15T05:05:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=17822"},"modified":"2014-02-14T18:27:17","modified_gmt":"2014-02-14T23:27:17","slug":"christlife-intentional-quiet-time-part-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2014\/02\/15\/christlife-intentional-quiet-time-part-2\/","title":{"rendered":"CHRISTLife &#8212; An Intentional Quiet Time (Part 2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_1391.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-7262\" alt=\"IMG_1391\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_1391-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_1391-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/IMG_1391.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Each Saturday for the next few weeks, we will look in-depth at a few of the most important aspects of having a\u00a0<em>quiet time<\/em>\u2014or as some folks call it\u2014a\u00a0<em>devotional time<\/em>. \u00a0Last week we talked about one aspect of a quiet time&#8212;reading the Bible.\u00a0This week we will focus on recognizing how vital it is to include singing praises to God as part of our quiet time.<\/p>\n<p>If you are like me, you have found that singing and praising through song is so uplifting; don\u2019t you think? \u00a0Almighty God is <em>the point<\/em>&#8230;He is<em> the focus<\/em>&#8230;keeping my mind and heart set toward Him is <em>my aim<\/em>. \u00a0He is <em>the reason<\/em> why I sing praises to Him!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Psalms 147:1, 7<br \/>\nPraise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God,<br \/>\nfor He is gracious and lovely; praise is becoming and appropriate.<br \/>\nSing to the Lord with thanksgiving;<br \/>\nsing praises with the harp or the lyre to our God!<\/p>\n<p>There are more reasons to praise our God than we have words enough to do so! \u00a0Here are just a few of His attributes:<br \/>\n\u2022 He is full of glory (Psalm 138:5)<br \/>\n\u2022 He is great (Psalm 145:3)<br \/>\n\u2022 He is wise and powerful (Daniel 2:20)<br \/>\n\u2022 He is good (Psalm 107:8)<br \/>\n\u2022 He is merciful (Psalm 89:1)<br \/>\n\u2022 He is faithful (Deuteronomy 7:9)<\/p>\n<p>And just some of His wonderful works:<br \/>\n\u2022 He is the One who saves us (Psalm 18:46)<br \/>\n\u2022 He keeps His promises (1 Kings 8:56)<br \/>\n\u2022 He pardons sin (Psalm 103:1-3)<br \/>\n\u2022 He gives us our daily food (Psalm 136:25)<\/p>\n<p>There is a day coming when all will praise God by bowing to Jesus the King!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Philippians 2:10-11<br \/>\nThat in (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow,<br \/>\nin heaven and on earth and under the earth,<br \/>\nAnd every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge<br \/>\nthat Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.<\/p>\n<p>Almighty God is oh-so-worthy to be praised! \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=psalm+107&amp;version=AMP\" target=\"_blank\">Psalm 107<\/a> would be a great place to look to be encouraged with reminders of what God has done for His children! Throughout this particular psalm are listed proof after proof of God\u2019s goodness.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Psalms 107:8, 15, 21, 31<br \/>\nOh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness<br \/>\nand loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!<\/p>\n<p>The Book of Psalms has been called the \u2018Praise Book\u2019 of the Bible. \u00a0In it are literally hundreds of examples of praises and reasons why praise is oh-so-very important. Did you know that<em> every single one of the 150 psalms included in the Book of Psalms is an actual song<\/em>? \u00a0Steve Pearson, a wonderful singer and songwriter, has written and recorded many songs using the words of the Psalms and his own inspired musical accompaniment. To my knowledge, he has now written and recorded a melody to each of the 150 psalms! \u00a0Here is a link to his website \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/psalmistry.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">www.psalmistry.com<\/a> \u00a0Check it out! \u00a0Click on a song you have chosen to listen to&#8230;this will give you the particular songs words. \u00a0then click on &#8220;mp3 or midi&#8221; (I usually choose midi and listen to a piano rendition of the song).
