When you were born again in Christ, did you sense that your innermost being was passing from death into life? \u00a0Ephesians 2:1 and 2 says, \u201cAs for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air. \u00a0But….\u201d \u00a0(read on, dear sister!)<\/p>\n

But God\u2014so rich is He in His mercy! <\/span>
\nBecause of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful <\/span>
\nand intense love with which He loved us, <\/span>
\neven when we were dead (slain) <\/span>
\nby [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, <\/span>
\nHe made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; <\/span>
\n[He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life <\/span>
\nwith which He quickened Him, for] <\/span>
\nit is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) <\/span>
\nthat you are saved (delivered from judgment <\/span>
\nand made partakers of Christ\u2019s salvation). <\/span>
\nEphesians 2:4 and 5 AMP<\/span><\/p>\n

To satisfy His intense love for us, God through Christ made us alive in union with Him. \u00a0He gave us the same life He gave Jesus Christ so we could be saved! \u00a0Oh, what mercy and grace!<\/p>\n

\u201cAlive<\/em>\u201d what does that mean to you? \u00a0To get a good perspective, I looked up the definition of \u201calive<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0Some definitions that struck me were\u2014’not just living but alert…active…vital…and energetic’. \u00a0Romans 6:11 NLT, \u201cSo you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive [alert,<\/em> TLB] to God through Christ Jesus.<\/p>\n

Then I found this quote from Adolf Deissman, a professor of theology in two major universities in Germany from 1897 to 1935.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cJust as all men live in the air, and cannot live without air,
\nso the Christian lives in Christ\u2026To be in Christ is to live a life
\nin which Christ is the atmosphere which we breathe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Christ is the very atmosphere in which I \u201clive and move and have my being\u201d (Acts 17:28 NIV). \u00a0As Michael W. Smith\u2019s song, \u201cBreathe<\/em>\u201d states,<\/p>\n

I\u2019m desperate for You, I\u2019m lost without You. You are the very air I breathe!<\/strong><\/p>\n

This union with Christ has given us full access to \u201cthe life-giving God\u201d (1 Timothy 6:13 Message). Even Jesus refers over and over to God as His\/our source of life:<\/p>\n

\u2026I (Jesus) live because of the Father\u2026
\nJohn 6:57<\/p>\n

For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself.
\nJohn 5:26<\/p>\n

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to Him all are alive.
\nLuke 20:38<\/p>\n

John 17:20-26 records Jesus\u2019 prayer for all future people who would become believers (that includes us).<\/p>\n

\n

I pray also for those who will believe in Me
\nthrough their (the disciples\u2019) message,
\nthat all of them may be one, Father,
\njust as You are in Me and I am in You.
\nMay they also be in Us
\nso that the world may believe that You have sent Me.
\nI have given them the glory that You gave Me,
\nthat they may be one as We are one\u2014
\nI in them and You in Me\u2014
\nso that they may be brought to complete unity.
\nThen the world will know that You sent Me
\nand have loved them even as You have loved Me.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Do you see that, ladies? \u00a0Jesus asked His Father to spiritually unite us as He and the Father are united. \u00a0The only way that is possible is for each of us to have the same Spirit\u2014\u201cI in them and You in Me.\u201d \u00a0Our spiritual aliveness is from the life of Jesus Christ Himself, \u201cThe very Source, the Author of life\u201d (Acts 3:15 AMP), and our unity is because of that oneness in Christ.<\/p>\n

When Jesus ascended into Heaven, He was determined that we would remain in Him\u2014to be alive, alert, vital, and active\u2014so He gave us the wonderful gift of His Holy Spirit to help us.<\/p>\n

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you
\nanother Advocate, who will never leave you.
\nHe is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth\u2026
\nyou know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.
\nJohn 14:16-17 NLT<\/p>\n

It is the Spirit who gives life\u2026
\nJohn 6:63 NASB<\/p>\n

How do we continue to grow in this aliveness<\/em>? \u00a0We need to renew our minds (Romans 12:2 KJV). \u00a0We do that by daily feeding on \u201cThe True Bread of God\u2026 anyone who feeds on Me will live because of Me\u201d John 6:33 and 57 NLT. \u00a0This is Jesus\u2019 promise to us. \u00a0The world would like us to think that if we satisfy our own cravings and lust that we will really live. \u00a0Oh, they are so misled (1 John 2:15-17)! \u00a0Those things will never satisfy the hunger that was placed in us when we were created. \u00a0It can only be satisfied by Christ, Himself.<\/p>\n

I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life…\u201d
\nJohn 14:6<\/p>\n

\u2026the man\/woman who does the will of God lives forever.
\n1 John 2:17<\/p>\n

As I learn and grow by spending time in His Word, I know Christ better. \u00a0As I know Him better, I fall more in love with Him. \u00a0In that love, I am alive, alert, active, and vital for Him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are the God who preserves alive all living things (1 Timothy 6:13 AMP).
\nI acknowledge that all of my life—physical and spiritual—
\nis in Your hands and under Your control.\u201d

Dear Lord, thank You for desiring us to be alive in You. \u00a0We are desperate for more of You. \u00a0You ARE the very air we breathe. \u00a0Help us to renew our minds and satisfy our hunger by feeding on Your Word daily. \u00a0Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who sustains, comforts, and guides us in our aliveness in You. \u00a0In the Name of our Living Lord, Jesus Christ, we pray. \u00a0Amen.<\/p>\n
