Christians throughout the world celebrate Advent. Some light candles or sing songs; some give gifts or \u00a0hang\u00a0wreaths. \u00a0All of these are simple joyous\u00a0ways of extending the celebration\u00a0of Jesus\u2019s coming beyond a mere 24 hours on\u00a0December 25.\u00a0Our prayer is that these devotionals\u00a0throughout\u00a0this season of Advent would help you to celebrate His first Coming and anticipate with HOPE and joy His second Coming.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #2e8389;\">* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For a child is born to us&#8230;<br \/>\nAnd he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,<br \/>\nMighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.<br \/>\nIsaiah 9:6b<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0***********************<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #2e8389;\"><strong><em>Prince of Peace<\/em><\/strong><\/span>. Often times the Lord&#8217;s many names don&#8217;t mean much to us until we have experienced them personally&#8211;that&#8217;s never been the case with<em> this<\/em> name. \u00a0I&#8217;ve always favored <em>Prince of Peace.<\/em>\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I like all of His names, but peace just sounds so calm.\u00a0 The Lord&#8217;s peace is like no pill you could ever be prescribed.\u00a0 It&#8217;s like no goose egg you could ever accumulate. It&#8217;s like no budget or plan you could conceive.\u00a0 Philippians 4:7 best describes this peace, &#8220;&#8230;Then you will experience God\u2019s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I always wondered how a person could have peace when they didn&#8217;t understand their circumstances&#8230; until I experienced this peace for myself. \u00a0I&#8217;m the type of person who needs to know all the details <strong>and<\/strong> I need to know what all my options are <strong>and<\/strong> then I maul over (a fancy way of saying <em>worry!<\/em>) the problem until its over!\u00a0 Then, and only then, do I have peace.<\/p>\n<p>The day I was informed that my cousin was murdered was the day I understood Philippians 4:7.\u00a0\u00a0I mean, what kind of plan do you make for that? What kind of options do you have?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,<br \/>\nwill guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>Since then I have leaned into\u00a0a Lord Who promised, &#8220;I am leaving you with a gift\u2014peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. \u00a0So don\u2019t be troubled or afraid&#8221; \u00a0(John 14:27).<\/p>\n<p>And a God Who says He &#8220;will keep in perfect peace all who trust in [Him], all whose thoughts are fixed on [Him]!&#8221; (Isaiah 26:3).<\/p>\n<p>Do I understand this tragic situation? \u00a0Not a chance.\u00a0 Do I have the Prince of Peace&#8217;s peace? <strong>Absolutely<\/strong>.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s something I grasp for each day.\u00a0 I grasp and hold tight to my Savior who, being God, saw it fit to come to Earth, lay in a manger, and die on a cross.\u00a0 The Prince of Peace.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* * * * *<\/p>\n<p>Lord, I am thankful that You knew one day I would need Your peace.\u00a0 Your peace that penetrates all circumstances.\u00a0 You are amazing and gracious.\u00a0 Thank You.\u00a0 In Jesus&#8217; name I pray, amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each week during the season of Advent, our blogs will focus on a central theme which is associated with the coming of Christ\u2014His Advent. \u00a0This week\u2019s theme is\u00a0PEACE.
