{"id":15290,"date":"2013-10-18T00:01:32","date_gmt":"2013-10-18T05:01:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=15290"},"modified":"2013-10-17T21:40:58","modified_gmt":"2013-10-18T02:40:58","slug":"baked-fish-cilantro-sauce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2013\/10\/18\/baked-fish-cilantro-sauce\/","title":{"rendered":"Baked Fish with Cilantro Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Baked-Fish-with-Cilantro-Sauce.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-15291\" alt=\"Baked Fish with Cilantro Sauce\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Baked-Fish-with-Cilantro-Sauce-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"430\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Baked-Fish-with-Cilantro-Sauce-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Baked-Fish-with-Cilantro-Sauce-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 430px) 100vw, 430px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Monday I went to Costco and found some really beautiful fish. \u00a0It was so yummy-looking, I couldn&#8217;t pass it up, even though I didn&#8217;t know what I was going to do with it. \u00a0Google to the rescue! \u00a0I went to a site called Epicurious.com that I&#8217;ve had luck with before, and found a recipe for halibut, but it said you could use any firm-fleshed white fish. \u00a0Bingo! \u00a0I changed a few things, and now I&#8217;m calling it <strong>Baked Fish with Cilantro Sauce<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Use whatever firm-fleshed white fish you have. \u00a0I used rockfish, which is like red snapper. \u00a0You can also use halibut, cod, and probably even tilapia. \u00a0\u00a0And if you&#8217;re not really a fan of fish, I bet you could even get super crazy and make this with thin-sliced chicken breast (though you&#8217;ll probably want to cook it a little longer.) \u00a0The cilantro sauce is phenomenal! \u00a0The original recipe called for shitake mushrooms. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t have any, so I used regular button mushrooms. \u00a0But I really liked the mushroom flavor in the recipe and wished it was stronger. \u00a0I would suggest a wild mushroom mix, or maybe portobello mushrooms if you can find them. \u00a0Regular button mushrooms will work fine, but if you like mushrooms, maybe use more than the recipe calls for. \u00a0And if you can find shitakes, by all means use them!<\/p>\n<p>Full disclosure: \u00a0My girls didn&#8217;t really like this. \u00a0I think this is maybe more of a grown-up dinner. \u00a0So make this for you and your adult diners, and maybe throw some fish sticks in the oven for the kids. \u00a0That meant I had leftovers. \u00a0I ate them yesterday for breakfast &#8230; and finished the rest off at lunch! \u00a0(Can you tell I really liked it?)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Baked Fish with Cilantro Sauce<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>(Serves 4)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 bunch fresh cilantro, ends trimmed off (but use the stems too, not just the leaves!)<\/li>\n<li>1 clove garlic<\/li>\n<li>1-inch piece ginger, peeled<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons sesame oil<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li>1 small squirt Sriracha chili sauce, or other hot pepper sauce of choice<\/li>\n<li>juice of one large lemon<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 pounds filets of rockfish, halibut, cod, or other firm white fish<\/li>\n<li>1 pound green beans, trimmed<\/li>\n<li>1 bunch mizuna or arugula<\/li>\n<li>8 ounces mushrooms, sliced<\/li>\n<li>3 cloves garlic, finely sliced<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Directions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 450*F.
