{"id":15085,"date":"2013-10-09T00:01:27","date_gmt":"2013-10-09T05:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=15085"},"modified":"2013-10-08T20:41:49","modified_gmt":"2013-10-09T01:41:49","slug":"taking-care-spiritual-wellness-spending-time-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2013\/10\/09\/taking-care-spiritual-wellness-spending-time-god\/","title":{"rendered":"Are You Taking Care of Your Spiritual Wellness and Spending Time with God?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week I shared there are three components of Wellness&#8212;social, spiritual, and physical.\u00a0 This week, let\u2019s discuss <em>spiritual wellness<\/em>.\u00a0 You may be thinking, \u201cI got this one! \u00a0I am a believer in Christ.\u201d\u00a0 But if you are honest with yourself, are you taking the time to focus on your <em>spiritual<\/em> <em>wellness<\/em> by spending time with God?<\/p>\n<p>As a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yourfitnessdesigner.com\/Home_Page.html\">Fitness and Food Designer for busy women<\/a>, I create fitness and nutrition plans for women.\u00a0 What has always amazed me is that most women want not only to have time for exercise, but to have time with God each day; but it can be a struggle .<\/p>\n<p>Women of today, myself included, can get overwhelmed at times with all there is to do, even when things that are good.\u00a0 It can seem impossible to balance all of our different responsibilities and daily tasks, great and small.\u00a0\u00a0 However, I believe and know from personal experience, that the only way to have true peace and balance is to focus on your <em>spiritual wellness<\/em> <strong>every day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If things have gotten so busy for you, take a minute to remember why spending time with God each day is a necessity of life to be spiritually well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. To Honor God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What if your husband, a close friend, or your child said, &#8220;I love you,&#8221; yet they never took the time to listen or have a conversation with you? \u00a0 I am guessing you would question\u00a0their feelings by their lack of interest in you.\u00a0 We bring honor to our Creator by just showing Him He is important.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. To have a life of peace and balance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having a life of peace and balance does not just happen.\u00a0 We cannot wake up, rush out the door, stay busy all day, fall asleep to television each night, and then expect to find a sense of peace and contentment in our life. One of my favorite scripture verses is Psalm 34:14 which says, \u00a0\u201cSeek peace and pursue it.\u201d\u00a0 We <em>have to find the time<\/em> to seek it out in our daily walk with God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. To have less stress and anxiety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Philippians 4:6 says, &#8220;Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your request to God.&#8221;\u00a0 Daily quiet time with God will reduce anxiety and stress.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. To discover our sense of purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We can get so caught up doing so many \u201cbusy\u201d things that keep us from being what God intended us to be.\u00a0 A sense of purpose is found when we take the time to seek God and discover our personal gifts and talents.\u00a0 It cannot be found when we busy our self trying to find it.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How do you find time to focus on your spiritual wellness?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1. Begin by realizing it is ok to start with 5-10 minutes a day.\u00a0 Find a quiet place that is designated as your \u201cquiet place.\u201d\u00a0 Have your Bible study and Bible in a basket ready to go so that you do not waste valuable time or become discouraged.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Bible-basket.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-15090 aligncenter\" alt=\"Bible basket\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Bible-basket-225x300.jpg\" width=\"182\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2.
