Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to Your name give glory, for Your mercy and loving-kindness and for the sake of Your truth and faithfulness!<\/p>\n

Psalm 115:1<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Sometimes, I think, we sing and speak out our praise of our great God…giving Him glory…but failing to voice why<\/strong><\/em> we are glorifying Him.\u00a0 Y\u2019know…”Praise the Lord!\u00a0 Praise You, Jesus!\u00a0 Praise You, praise You, praise You!”\u00a0 These are the words that come from my mouth at times.\u00a0 Perhaps my praises should be filled with specific expressions<\/strong> of my gratitude.\u00a0 We do this when we are relating our praise about others, right?\u00a0 When I am praising any other person on this earth, I don\u2019t\u00a0 simply say\u2013for example, \u2018Oh, I just praise Megan…she\u2019s so good!\u2019\u00a0 No; I say, \u2018Oh, it was so awesome!\u00a0 We have reached the end of the \u2018Seven\u2019 journey, and Megan was sharing her heart…her words just spoke so eloquently!\u00a0 I am so thankful for her ability to communicate heart matters!\u2019\u00a0\u00a0 Likewise, when praising\u00a0Almighty God, we should be specific<\/strong> about His\u00a0awesome lovingkindness, His mercy, His grace, His steadfast love!\u00a0 Yes?<\/p>\n

The Psalmist\u2014King David\u2014 was really, really, really good at this!\u00a0 Of the 150 individual psalms which make up the Book of Psalms in the Bible, approximately 80 have been ascribed to David.\u00a0 David, who God called \u2018a man after my own heart,\u2019 wrote phrase after phrase (praise after praise!)\u00a0 filled with praises of His God…and praising Him specifically.\u00a0 Here are a few examples of David\u2019s praises.<\/p>\n

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!
\nPsalm 107:1<\/p>\n

The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation\u2014
\nThe God who gave me vengeance and subdued peoples under me,
\nWho delivered me from my enemies; yes, You exalted me above
\nthose who rose against me; You rescued me from the man of violence.
\nFor this I will praise you, O Lord….
\nPsalms 18:46-49<\/p>\n

Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
\nSing the glory of His name; give to Him glorious praise!
\nSay to God, “How awesome are Your deeds!
\nSo great is Your power that Your enemies come cringing to You.
\nAll the earth worships You and sings praises to You; they sing praises to your name.”\u00a0\u00a0 Selah
\nPsalms 66:1-4<\/p>\n

As is written in Psalm 107:2 “Let the redeemed of the Lord <that is you and me<\/strong><\/em>!> say so…”\u00a0 Be specific when you sing or speak or shout your praises to Your loving Father!\u00a0 And when you are praising Him to others…use words to tell them about your wonderful, loving, faithful, compassionate, merciful, gracious Father!<\/p>\n

Oh, Lord, we do so love to praise You—and we have so very many, many, many opportunities to praise You for Your goodness, Your faithfulness, Your kindness, Your love!\u00a0 Forgive us, Lord, when we have failed to voice the whys<\/em> of our praises!\u00a0 We, truly, have so very much to praise and thank You for…may we not be remiss in telling you exactly why!\u00a0 We love you, Lord!\u00a0 Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
