Some days, I feel like being single is a blessing.\u00a0 Some days, I am content.\u00a0 Other days (oh! those other days!), I feel like being single is a curse, a punishment, and the absolute worse thing a person could have to endure.<\/p>\n<p>Being single&#8212;despite thinking it is sometimes\u2014is not a curse and it is not something I can &#8220;fix.&#8221;\u00a0\u00a0 Being single is not a problem that needs to be resolved&#8230;it is a season to be embraced.\u00a0 During this time I have learned to embrace being alone. (And when I say alone, I mean the absence of another person.) I&#8217;ve learned much about myself and being alone (although, I fought at first) has pushed me closer to God.\u00a0 I have learned to rely on Him in ways I don&#8217;t think I would learned without this season of singleness.<\/p>\n<p>This burning desire to be married and have my own family can consume me at times, if left unchecked.\u00a0 After all, it is not <b><i>wrong<\/i><\/b><i><\/i> to want a family.\u00a0 However, the Lord has taught me much about maintaining the proper priority when it comes to<b> desires<\/b>.\u00a0 This unsatisfied desire has allowed me to thirst for the Lord more.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<em>O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for You;<\/em><br \/>\n<i>my whole body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water.<\/i><br \/>\nPsalm 63:1<\/p>\n<p>I am learning to <i>search for the Lord <\/i>when my despair over my singleness is overwhelming.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Not people.<\/li>\n<li>Not my single friends who agree with the unfairness of singleness.<\/li>\n<li>Not my well-meaning married friends who, lovingly, speak out\u00a0one or all of the many given lines available about how waiting is &#8220;sooooo&#8221; worth it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.<\/em><br \/>\nPsalm 63:8<\/p>\n<p>The Lord is the only one who can wrap me in His loving arms and make everything better.\u00a0 Some nights I cry to Him&#8212;literally cry&#8212;and He always reassures me that He has a plan&#8230;an awesome plan.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of whether you are in a season (a LONG season) of singleness, or infertility, or financial struggle, or health issues&#8230;let Him quench your thirst, your desire, whatever it may be.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>He can.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* * * * *<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, Lord, that I am given the opportunity each day to know that You are God\u2014<em>the<\/em> God&#8230;the God that has the plan&#8230;the God that is holding my hand&#8230;the God that is leading me along the path of life that is before me&#8230;.the good God who does not cause adverse circumstances and who does punish or bring us trials&#8230;the good God who says I can walk you through anything life brings your way, if you&#8217;ll only trust me&#8230;the good God who provides us with all we need to be more than conquers&#8230;the good God who shows us there IS a &#8220;happily-ever-after.&#8221;\u00a0 Ultimately, regardless of our current situations, we win.\u00a0 (And how can we lose, when we&#8217;ve already won.)\u00a0 Thank You, Lord.\u00a0 In Jesus&#8217; name, amen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am single.
