{"id":14389,"date":"2013-09-02T01:00:24","date_gmt":"2013-09-02T06:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=14389"},"modified":"2013-09-01T17:27:10","modified_gmt":"2013-09-01T22:27:10","slug":"all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2013\/09\/02\/all\/","title":{"rendered":"All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>All.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>This word is so small, yet its meaning is so vast.\u00a0 I cannot remember ever being told the meaning of or looking up the definition of <em>all<\/em>, but I know what it means.\u00a0 In fact, if you were to ask me what the meaning of <em>all<\/em> is, I would answer with a hand gesture.\u00a0 (And I bet you can picture that gesture in your head , right now!)<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>All.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I will praise the Lord at <em><b>all<\/b> <\/em>times. I will constantly speak his praises.<br \/>\nPsalm 34:1<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>When I read the word &#8220;<em>all<\/em>&#8221; in this verse it seems out of place.\u00a0 The psalmist aspires to praise the Lord at &#8220;<em>all<\/em>&#8221; times. The words &#8220;sometimes&#8221; or &#8220;often&#8221; seem more plausible to me. After <em>all<\/em> we are talking about <em>all<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This verse, with its use of the word &#8220;<em>all<\/em>&#8220;, is quite overwhelming and, when I first read it, I thought, &#8220;I can&#8217;t <em>AL<strong>L<\/strong><\/em>ways praise the Lord, I have a lot to do.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t write about this verse.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Six other verses in this psalm contain the word &#8220;<em>all<\/em>&#8220;\u2014 verses 2, 4, 6, 7 and, 9\u2014and five of these six verses refer to God doing something.<\/p>\n<p>Then it hit me.<\/p>\n<p>My God is an <strong><em>ALL<\/em> <\/strong>God.\u00a0 He&#8217;s not a &#8220;this and that&#8221; type of God.\u00a0 God wants an<em> all<\/em> relationship with me.\u00a0 Jesus said the greatest commandment is, &#8220;&#8230;Love the Lord your God with<em> all<\/em> your heart and with <em>all<\/em> your soul and with <em>all<\/em> your mind&#8221; (Matthew 22:37).<\/p>\n<p>Being the great example He is, God shows us what\u00a0<em>all<\/em> means in a relationship.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For God so loved the word that he gave his one and only [<em>all<\/em>] son&#8230;<br \/>\nJohn 3:16a<\/p>\n<p>With a sacrifice like this, I understand how Jesus can say, &#8220;In the same way any of you who does not give up everything [<em>all<\/em>] he has cannot follow me&#8221; (Luke 14:33).<\/p>\n<p>And apparently, obeying this command is possible&#8230;the first disciples did it! \u00a0In Luke 5:11 and 28, the verses read, &#8220;&#8230;left everything [<em>all<\/em>] and followed him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><em>All<\/em>.\u00a0 He wants it <em>all<\/em>.<\/h3>\n<p>The story about the rich young ruler can be found in Luke 18:18-30.\u00a0 This is a fairly well-known story. \u00a0Jesus tells the man to sell everything [<em>all<\/em>] and follow Him, but the young man does not.\u00a0 At the end of the story Jesus says,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I tell you the truth, no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children [insert<em>: all<\/em>] for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life.<br \/>\nLuke 18:29 and 30<\/p>\n<p>We will be rewarded.\u00a0 <em>All<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>God has given us His <em>all<\/em>; in turn, He wants our <em>all<\/em>.\u00a0 <strong>Does He have your <em>all<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* * * * *<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, Father, that the vastness of &#8220;all&#8221; is not too much for the Holy Spirit to handle. Help us to not be overwhelmed and instead trust You in all we do and aspire to do.\u00a0 Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All.
