{"id":14292,"date":"2013-08-30T01:00:33","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T06:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/?p=14292"},"modified":"2013-08-29T21:47:24","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T02:47:24","slug":"promises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/2013\/08\/30\/promises\/","title":{"rendered":"Promises"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13840\" alt=\"SeekingHimLogo\" src=\"http:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg\" width=\"560\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo.jpg 560w, https:\/\/girlfriendscoffeehour.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SeekingHimLogo-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Psalms 91:14-16<br \/>\nBecause he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;<br \/>\nI will set him <i>securely<\/i> on high, because he has known My name.<br \/>\nHe will call upon Me, and I will answer him;<br \/>\nI will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.<br \/>\nWith a long life I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation.<\/p>\n<p>Promises for you and for me!\u00a0 &#8220;Him&#8221; and &#8220;he&#8221; refer to you and me!\u00a0 Promises to cling to&#8230;to hold firmly in our minds and our hearts&#8230;to stand boldly upon.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because Almighty God\u2014the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Great I AM, the Faithful One\u2014He has declared these promises!<\/p>\n<p>Throughout this psalm, promise after promise after promise is written!\u00a0 If I have counted correctly there are thirty promises given to us just in this one short psalm.\u00a0 God\u2019s promises are given so that we learn to trust and rely on Him.\u00a0 He is faithful!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">God is not human, that He should lie,<br \/>\nnot a human being, that He should change his mind.<br \/>\nDoes He speak and then not act?<br \/>\nDoes He promise and not fulfill?<br \/>\nNumbers 23:19<\/p>\n<p>This week, Cheris, Ann, Ahmee, and Laura have encouraged us by calling our attention to God\u2019s heart expressed through the words of Psalm 91.\u00a0 In their writings they have reminded us that He has promised that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He is our Refuge and our Fortress<\/li>\n<li>we can trust Him completely<\/li>\n<li>we can rest in Him<\/li>\n<li>we are safe and need have no fear<\/li>\n<li>we can have rest\u2014quietness of heart and peace<\/li>\n<li>we have His angels to guard us and protect us<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>May I encourage you to pick up your Bible, turn to the page where Psalm 91 is printed, and read <em>ALOUD<\/em> all the promises included in just this one short psalm.\u00a0 Try this: (this is how I read this psalm) every place there is a pronoun relating to us (he, him, you, your) replace it with your own name.\u00a0 For example,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Because {coleen} has loved Me, therefore I will deliver {coleen};<br \/>\nI will set {coleen} <i>securely<\/i> on high, because {coleen} has known My name.<br \/>\n{coleen} will call upon Me, and I will answer {coleen};<br \/>\nI will be with {coleen} in trouble; I will rescue {coleen} and honor {coleen}.<br \/>\nWith a long life I will satisfy {coleen} and let {coleen} see My salvation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">* * * * *<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Dear Lord, how awesome are Your promises!\u00a0 How thankful we are to understand even but a few of them!\u00a0 How blessed we are by Your promises to provide for, and guide, and protect, and rescue, and deliver, and hear, and answer us.\u00a0 May we hold Your word(s) in our heart so that we do not sin against You.\u00a0 We love You so very much, Lord!\u00a0 We pray and ask these things in Jesus\u2019 name.\u00a0 Amen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Psalms 91:14-16 Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
